Chapter 1
Ed was at another party. Almost every week there was one for all the State Alchemists held in Central. He always dragged Al along with him to make it less boring, it would be better if it wasn't raining though.
He turned to Al, who was sitting in the chair next to his. "Automail sucks when it's raining," Ed complained, rolling his Automail shoulder back and standing up to stretch his leg.
Al turned his head up to the sky. I wish I could help you brother, but there's nothing I can do to stop the rain," he said staring at the clouds overhead.
After Ed had sat back down, he spotted Mustang walking over to the, his umbrella up to shield him from the rain. "Hey Fullmetal," he said, standing in front of the Elric brothers.
"What now, Mustang?" he asked, rolling his eyes and resting on his Automail hand.
Mustang also rolled his eyes and said, a tone of annoyance in his voice, "I just came to tell you that the contests are about to start." Under his breath, he added, "You don't have to be such a brat about it."
"What was that, Colonel?" Ed said with an annoyed eye roll.
"Nothing important, just don't be late, Pipsqueak," he said with a grin as he walked away.
"WHO ARE YOU CALLING SO SHORT HE CAN ONLY BE SEEN THROUGH A MAGNIFYING GLASS?!" Ed yelled after him and watched Mustang walk away with a smug smile on his face. He looked over to the contest tent and said to Al, "You ready to win?"
"You bet brother," Al said standing up.
Meanwhile…
Envy paced a few steps back and forth, listening to the sounds of the alchemists gathering around him. He looked around for the Elric brothers and muttered, "What's taking so long?" He heard someone walking up behind him and turned to see who it was.
"What are you doing here, Havoc?" asked Mustang.
Envy fished in his uniform pocket and pulled out a piece of paper. "The Fürher sent me to be in charge of the contest, sir," he said, handing Mustang his paper.
Mustang read it, then gave it back. "Carry on then, I hope this contest will be worth it this time," he said, joining the other Alchemists.
Envy raised his hand and yelled over the crowd, "Everyone listen up!"
Everyone slowly quieted down and turned towards Envy.
