Acting
If there was one thing Hikaru was good at, it was acting. He was a prankster, after all, so acting was one of the necessary skills to pull off a good joke. He liked to see people's expressions and their faces as he tricked them, it entertained him for the most part.
Over the years, Hikaru had grown accustomed to acting. He had been doing it for so long, he could hardly tell the difference between himself and the lies he told. However, there were two people could tell the difference.
One person who was his world and the other who opened a new world to him. One who he acted with and one who he couldn't act in front of.
The two people he loved the most.
Hikaru knew that 'brotherly love' was an act, but what about his feelings for Haruhi? Hikaru couldn't stand in the same room as her and 'act' as if they were just friends, he couldn't glance at her from the corner of his eyes and pretend he didn't have feelings for her, but he could deny.
He could deny for the sake of the host club and for his brother. After all, when he looked at Haruhi, he was only a boy with no act but denial
