Shadowy

Angela Danielle Owen

In and out, back and forth again

How is it that I never win?

Am I wrong?

Was it not so long

When I could sing a happy song?

Raise my voice and join the choir,

Add some hope instead of dire?

You say, "You are not the only one."

But this weight that presses weighs a ton.

I see only darkness, not a hint of sun.

In my mind the time has come

To change before the shadow has won.
