The Extended Second Life of Bree Tanner

Dmitri grabbed Bree's arm, prepared to rip her to smaller pieces, when a brown blur pounced on him and ripped off his arm. He screamed as another, darker blur landed on him and a set of teeth tore his neck as the previous blur struggled to hold him down.

Felix fell back in a defensive crouch in front of Jane as she tried to use her gift on the first brown blur. It dodged only to hit the rogue vampire as the darker blur ripped Dmitri's head of the body and threw it to the side.

The first blur pounced on her, only to be intercepted by Felix. Other blurs in various shades of brown arrived to rip Felix to pieces. She couldn't focus on one, they all moved constantly, not leaving an idea of where their minds could be located.

The first blur scattered Dmitri's pieces, then returned to the rogue vampire's side, digging its head into her hip. It seemed to be some kind of animal but was hidden in the rogue's shadow.

Jane focused on the brown blur, no longer seeking the mind, just hitting any part of the body she can. It fell to the ground, writhing in pain. It was a wolf. Not long after, the other wolves in combat with Felix fell to the ground in pain. Linked minds, how interesting. She'd keep them there as she put together her fellow members of the Volturi guard.

She was just about to move when the rogue snapped out of her catatonia, snapped Jane's neck and tore her to pieces. When she looked up, the clearing was silent, save for the wolves' deep breathing and a pained whine her and there. She looked at her own personal savior, looked into his eyes and asked, "Why?"

A voice from behind her answered. It was the mind reader from the coven of vampires. "Imprint."
