Teen Titans Next Gen: Chapter 1

The New Titans

Gonash: Before I start the Chapter I would like to thank everyone for submitting their OC's to this story, none of it would be possible without them. I know I wasn't able to bring them justice the first time around but hopefully things change here. So without further ado, let's begin.

Teen Titans. What does it truly mean to be a Teen Titan? Many civilians saw them as the super humans that they owed their lives to, protecting others from danger around the clock. The Titans themselves seemed to see it in the same light. A Titan to them was one that fought for a defined purpose, and that purpose was to help the world in anyway they could. Unfortunately for the world, the Titans started to fade out of the spotlight. With the world having a sudden era in peace, the Titans disbanded and to this day still are, but when a boy's wild dreams come together with a group of teens that share his vision, the world could see the return to their beloved crime fighting team.

Downtown Jump City - 7:30AM

The hustle and bustle of Jump City was fairly common, as the lack of crime made the city a more attractive destination for many looking to grow businesses. Although the city still saw its occasional bankrobber, it was fairly prepared ever since their hometown hero took up the mantel to protect them.

"Hey Keitaro! What are you doing downtown so early?" A shopkeeper asked, flipping his closed sign to display that he was now open for business.

The boy stopped in his tracks and flashed a smile to the shopkeeper. He wore black dress pants with black dress shoes along with his light blue polo shirt with a light blue tie. His hair was a shiny blonde and it blew in the wind with a carefree nature. His brown eyes glistened as he turned to look at the shopkeeper

"Just wanted to get to school early Gazpacho, took the long route today so I could talk to my all time favorite salesman!"

Gazpacho looked past this obvious form of flattery and decided to take it as a compliment

"Anyway, I'll see ya later. Make sure you keep running those discounts for me!" Keitaro shouted as he flew the rest of the way to school. His wings hard at work to keep him airborne

Jump City Sewer System - 12:00PM

Deep in the sewers a man with a hoody and ripped jeans walked in the sewage and sludge. He carried within his hands a vile containing a clear, water like, solution.

"My little child, my most beautiful creation," He mumbled to himself as he started to uncap the vile.

"You will be the beauty that I will unleash upon this city, no, this world, for daring to toss me aside," He stood as he raised his voice

Smiling he proclaimed, "But they won't be able to simply toss you aside"

Pouring the liquid into the sewer systems he ran as far as he could as the sludge water started to react to the solution

Marriott Academy - 12:05PM

Keitaro walked into the classroom, excited at the thought of Geometry. The reason he was so excited was due to the fact that this was the only class he shared with his best friend Peter. Peter and Keitaro shared a special bond between them, a bond that many described as brother like. Keitaro loves Peter so much that he even calls him the brother he wished he had, especially when his tolerance of his sister was at an all time low. Peter felt the same way about Keitaro, the two are practically inseparable when they're in school and Keitaro doesn't have to worry about his hero duties. Unfortunately that was where the friction between the two existed, in Keitaro's heroic duties. Anytime Peter tried to initiate the hangout first, Keitaro would always have to leave either mid way through or right when it started much to Peter's annoyance. He knew his friend was keeping Jump City safe but he wished criminals sprung at more appropriate times, like in the middle of a school day

"How's it going Keitaro!" Peter shouted across the room, waving his arm as his pal walked towards him.

"Peter my man! Nothing much, just ready to sit through this one with the greatest friend ever." Keitaro proclaimed as he started pulling out his books and laptop

Suddenly it seemed like Peter's prayers had been answered as the school's emergency alarm went off, which meant one thing, the city was facing a great threat. Keitaro dashed out the classroom to change into his costume as the rest of the classroom started to lineup in an orderly fashion.

Downtown Jump City - 12:10PM

Sludge filled the roads of the city as many tried to evacuate their children and prevent them from being taken by the sludge monster running rampant in the streets. Jump City had never seen something like this ever since the Titans had disbanded, although they believed Keitaro could handle this, it didn't make them feel at ease.

"Guys! Help me!" A man shouted as his friends could only watch as the sludge monster prepared to pounce on him

At the last second however, a red and white blur came in and stopped the man from the ground, saving him from the wrath of the monster.

"Are you alright sir?" Keitaro questioned, helping the man back up on his feet

"Thanks Keitaro, I would've been on my way to the heavens without you." The man said as he tried to collect and calm himself.

"Not a problem man, now just sit back as I send this abomination into next week!" Keitaro soared upwards to meet face to face with the monster.

Keitaro's hero outfit was a mostly white jumpsuit with red lines all across his chest and helmet.

Keitaro dashed into the monster, trying to pierce through it, but the monster simply regenerated. Keitaro then began to harden his wings and tried once more the same attack that failed beforehand. Parts of the monster began to fall to the ground and just as fast as Keitaro's smile, they disappeared from the ground and back into the monster's body

"Aw man, I've never faced an actual monster before, but this one is a complete headache all together" Keitaro muttered under his breath as he contemplated his next course of action.

The monster began to wildly swing at him, forcing him to land to take cover.

Then out of nowhere, roots started to wrap themselves around the sludge monster, trapping it in one position. Keitaro looked back confused, trying to discover what had trapped it in the first place

"Easy there big guy, don't make this hard on the both of us!" The girl commanded as she made a pulling motion towards her direction, forcing the monster to stumble

"W-what the-?" Keitaro could only manage to get out as he looked back and forth at both the girl and the monster

"Ya know, it's ok to say thank you but I can tell that you're speechle-woah!" The girl shouted as she fell back and the monster broke free of the roots and tried to absorb them

Keitaro flew over to the girl and kneeled down next to her, "I'm sorry m'am, I forgot to ask of your name,"

The girl had seafoam like hair and olive skin. Her yellow eyes stood out the most however despite her forest green tights with holes in it, her mid-thigh black skirt, and her forest green sweatshirt which also had a cowl-scarf

"It's cool man! My name's Iris Keaton, but just call me Iris! I was passing through town and I saw this big blob causing mayhem so I decided to step in," Iris said as she got back up to her feet. "So, mind telling me your name?"

"The name's Keitaro Grayson! I'd tell you more about me but it looks like we got a situation on our hands!" Keitaro shouted as he dodged the monster's standard slam attack

"Agreed! Let's try wrapping it up and taking it apart!" Iris suggested as she shielded the two of them with roots.

Iris sent a barrage of roots towards the monster, each trying their best to keep the monster in its place, while Colton soared into the air and sliced the monster into pieces with his hardened wings. He kept going until the monster was reduced to piles of goo that lay on the road. People who had been absorbed by the monsters started to gain consciousness and ran as far as they could from the monster.

"Alright! Nice job, Iris! Up top!" Keitaro raised his hand for a high five as the two celebrated prematurely

The goo on the ground began to accumulate into one pile, slowly rebuilding itself as the two heroes started laughing. "That was a lot easier than I thought!" Iris proclaimed trying to hold her laughter.

The monster let out a blood curdling scream as it swung its arm forward, aiming at the two. Keitaro and Iris braced themselves for the attack until they heard the monster cry out in pain

The monster was struggling to free his hand as it had suddenly been frozen into place. "Are the two of you ok?" A female voice said from behind the two

Keitaro simply stared at the girl, amazed at how she was able to summon ice so easily. Iris however noticed that the monster was distracted enough to cut off its arm.

"Keitaro! Now's our chance! Try cutting off its arm before it breaks," Iris suggested

Keitaro was suddenly sent back to reality and took Iris' advice. "Hmm? Oh yeah, right!"

Keitaro soared into the air and sliced the monster's hand off, sending it crashing to the ground in the form of shattered ice. "Great job Keitaro!" Iris shouted as Keitaro landed on the ground.

Keitaro eyed the mysterious girl approaching them. She had long ash blonde hair, with fiery red and cold blue streaks that went all the way down to her waist. Each of her eyes were a different color, with her left eye being an artic blue, and her right being a fiery red as well. She wore a blue leotard with a flame logo in the middle, with a red skirt and white spandex leggings. She also had a white running jacket tied around her waist. "Keitaro is it? Nice job against that thing." She said as she finally caught up with the two

Keitaro reacted with a smile toward her compliment. "Thanks, but you were just AWESOME back there! I just HAVE to know your name,"

The girl was taken aback by the energy that Keitaro exuded. She started feeling a bit uncomfortable from it actually. "Uhm, you can just call me the Frozen Flame," She stated as she felt more at ease giving them her superhero name instead of her actual one.

"Frozen Flame huh? Well that kinda sounds like your superhero name. I was kinda wondering if I could know your actual name, ya know, if you don't mind.

," Keitaro was cautious in the way he asked for her name, he picked up on how uncomfortable she got at the question

The Frozen Flame picked up on his caution as well. This gave her a sense of trust, giving her the courage to reveal her nickname to them at least. "I mean...you could call me Ray,"

Keitaro smiled just at the sound of that name. "Ray...It's nice to meet-"

"Look out!" Ray shouted as the monster tried to absorb the heroes.

As the monster seemed to have completed his intended action, he fell back screaming in pain as his body started disintegrating into smoke. "Ok, what is going on?" Iris questioned, confused as possible at everything that was happening

A slim figure covered in scales jumped high into the air and unleashed a breath of fire onto the monster. The monster screamed louder as the figure started to approach it. He was covered from head to toe in bronze scales. He had emerald eyes and his gold hair glistened in the intense sunlight. His three fingers and three toes led on the impression among the others that he wasn't fully human, but they couldn't really pinpoint what he was. His wings were enormous and looked like they could send gusts of winds that could create tornadoes. His long tail looked powerful as well, as if it could slam an opponent onto the pavement with ease.

"Don't worry, I got this" The creature said, dashing towards the monster.

The only thing the other Titans could do was watch in awe as the newest hero went toe to toe with the beast longer than any of them could. "Who on Earth is this guy?" Keitaro thought to himself as he simply stared at the battle that ensued before them.

The monster started to figure out his foe's attack patterns and predicted the creatures next swing of his tail to be the perfect opportunity to strike. As the monster pounced, he began to wrap the hero in his goo and brought him closer into his body. The scale covered hero could only struggle to break free as he was brought closer and closer into the monster. As the others rushed to help him they were halted by an energy blast that struck the monster, causing him to release the creature.

"Now what?" Ray questioned, annoyingly.

A girl with a long, wavy, baby blue ponytail, continued to shoot energy beams from her hands at the monster, causing it to lose parts of its body.

Keitaro stared at the monster, until he suddenly gasped. "That's it! Iris use your vines to keep the monster in one spot! Ray, use your ice to shield us from any in coming attacks!" Keitaro commanded

Iris nodded her head and began to summon roots that wrapped around the base of the monster. As the monster started to throw balls of sludge at the hero, Ray took notice of how the scaled hero's fire was disintegrating the monster and launched fire balls of her own at the monsters sludge to disintegrate them.

"Awesome Ray! I didn't know you could manipulate fire too!" Keitaro said as his eyes filled with awe yet again.

"Just doing my job man" Ray said as she smiled at Keitaro.

"Hey! Blue haired lady! Keep up the barrage of energy but slow it down a little!" Keitaro shouted trying to get the blue haired heroine's attention

She paused for a second to look at Keitaro and then took his recommended course of action as she slowed down her energy barrage.

"Alright! Hey there man! We need you to combine your firebreath with Ray's fireballs into one attack!" Keitaro shouted at the creature as he got back up from the ground

The creature scoffed at Keitaro's request, and instead directly attacked the monster with his firebreath without Ray. Ray rolled her eyes at this but this didn't stop her from unleashing her fireballs either way. The monster started to disintegrate until nothing was left at the scene of the battle.

"Finally! I thought that would never be over!" Keitaro said as he gave a sigh of relief.

Everyone there however began to stare at him with a sort of, emotionless expression.

"So, I don't think we've all met! I'm Keitaro Grayson! Nice to meet all of you!"

"I know who you are," The half human creature stated as he approached Keitaro, "You're Jump City's protector...The Earthly Angel, some even call you the one man Titan, but based on what I'm looking at, your not much,"

Keitaro crossed his arms, "Oh really and who do you happen to be?"

"You can call me Solor, the guy who just saved your ass," Solor stated, not trying to hide the bit of pride in his voice

"Is that so? Well since she just saved you I don't think you have any room to talk," Keitaro fired back, pointing at the blue haired girl in the ponytail. "Speaking of which, I never got your name,"

The blue haired girl looked surprise as Keitaro flashed the question at her. She wasn't quick to reveal information, but these are the people she fought alongside to protect this city, so she only found it right.

"My name is Sapphire, it's nice to meet you all!" Sapphire stated

"I'm Iris Keaton, nice to meet you guys too!" Iris said

"Hi guys, I'm Ray," Ray said as she waved her hands

Keitaro looked over at all four of them and simply smiled and let out a small little laugh. "It was pretty fun fighting alongside you guys, but...you heard what Solar called me right?"

"The Earthly Angel right?" Iris questioned.

"Well yeah but the other thing, that's just my hero name," Keitaro explained

"The One Man Titan?" Ray questioned

"Bingo! I got that name mostly be cause I'm the only one who protects Jump City and I've been the only one since the Teen Titans disbanded but...that could all change!" Keitaro exclaimed as he got closer to the group. "If we all put our skills and powers together we could become the next Teen Titans, a team dedicated to fighting crime! What do you guys think?"

Everyone seemed hesitant at first, but Solor just stared at Keitaro. "If I help form this team maybe, just maybe...they might accept me again…"

Solor reached his hand out face down into the middle of the group. "A new group of Teen Titans huh? Sounds like it could work," Solor stated with a smile on his face

Iris then put her hand on top of Solor's. "Agreed, you saw what we did against that thing! Against all of us it stood no chance!"

Sapphire then placed her hand on top of Iris'. "Your optimism is very admirable Keitaro, it assures me that we can do this!"

Ray hesitantly placed her left hand on top of Sapphire's. "I'm in, you guys really know how to fight!"

All four of them suddenly turned to Keitaro who was in disbelief about what he was witnessing. Everyone was on board with this idea, and for the first time ever he had heroic friends…

Keitaro slammed his hand on top of Ray's. "ALRIGHT GUYS, LET'S MAKE THE WORLD PROUD!"

"YOU KNOW YOU COULD'VE DONE THAT WITH A BIT MORE GRACE!" Ray exclaimed angrily as Keitaro laughed it off.

Jump City had found their new Titans.
