Ghostbusting Rangers - Welcome Aboard, Ranger!

This takes place sometime after Ghostbusters 2, the business looks to franchise out to many parts of the U.S. and potentially beyond. One of these companies is in Fort Worth, Texas, just starting to get into place.

A taxi cab pulls over to the side of the street. After a few seconds, a man gets out from the back, taking his luggage out with him carefully. He adjusts his glasses before closing the cab door and heading towards an old looking building.

The man walks into the Ghostbusters Fort Worth HQ, or at least he thinks this is the place. The only indication was a sign with a ghost and a red circle with a slash going though it. The interior was less pleasing, it looked less of a business and more of a small warehouse full of furniture that was arranged to look like a makeshift office. Not to mention, it smelled disgusting and the car parked near the front of the room did not help at all. The only point of interest was the person who is sitting at the front desk, who appeared to be writing down a note, looking completely bored.

He cleared his throat and asked "Um... are you the secretary around here?"

The secretary looked up, a little surprised anyone would be here right now, but still looking formal. "Yes, how may I help you?"

"Umm… my name is Carl Anderson. I am supposed to start work here today." He said.

The secretary looked through some papers before saying "Oh yes, of course! Milan Gould is my name, pleasure to be working with you. Your... 'office' is upstairs. Just so you know, someone else is already up there."

Anderson nodded, and started to make his way upstairs. Considering what the job had asked for, you would think someone would have to be desperate in order to take this job. Though, he should not be one to talk.

He got up to the second floor which led to a room about 3/4th the size of the downstairs room, there were a couple of tables with computers to boot. There was also a few cabinets for paperwork, and some arcade machines along a TV against the wall to his left. In the center of the room was a cheaper looking table, along with a Yahtzee game that appeared to be ongoing.

Just then, the door that was beside the TV opened up. A slightly younger looking man comes out of the room, still in sleepwear and holding a bottle of water in his right hand. He looked around until he saw Carl standing in the doorway.

"Oh hey..." He said. "I was not expecting visitors. So, can I help you or something?" It seems clear he hasn't fully awoken yet.

"Yes, I'm the new person here." Anderson said as he put his hand out. "My name is Carl."

"Oh, nice. Good to meet you." the half awoken man said as he shook hands with him. "I am Frank Baker, welcome to the Ghostbusting Rangers."

"Thanks... Ghostbusting Rangers?" Anderson asked.

"Oh, you know, it's a play on the Texas Rangers. Like Walker, Texas Ranger?"

"I'm afraid I don't understand..."

Frank looked at him curiously. "You seriously have never seen it? Well, looks like what I'm watching tonight has been decided for me."

"Great." Anderson sighed. "Can I get my stuff in the bedroom now?"

"Of course, excuse me." Frank says as he moved out of the way to the center of the room.

Anderson went into the bedroom, which had very old mattresses and nothing to give it any sort of flare. He stands by one of them and puts the bag down before going back into the main room. Where Frank was playing the game of Yahtzee by himself. Baker had heard him coming but said nothing until he sat down.

"So, you wanna talk a little about yourself or what?" Frank asked.

Carl thought about that for a moment. "Well, I really have not much to say, really."

"Nothing at all? Surely, you have a reason you decided to work here? Interested in the paranormal or something like that?"

"Actually no, it nothing like that. It's more of a money problem if anything else… I haven't been having much luck."

Frank chuckled a bit. "You and me both, my profession don't earn much either, so I am currently doing both jobs part time. Might be a race car driver one day, this business the next."

"Wait a minute, so you mean to say any person off the street can just get this job? No scientific qualifications at all?" Anderson said, confused.

"Well, I'm here, aren't I? The questions they ask mostly relate to paranormal mumbo jumbo… let me tell ya, as long as there was a steady paycheck I was just gonna go say yes to everything they said to me."

Carl sat back a little in his seat, he remembered being asked the same questions in his interview. "I suppose that makes sense. It's just that I would think someone applying here would at least know the kind of technology they were dealing with."

"Suppose we'll learn in time, that is if we ever have to use it at all."

Hours passed by with nothing out of the ordinary. It got to about bedtime when all of a sudden, the phone rang from downstairs. Milan was the one to answer it.

"Yes, hello... Ghostbusters, what do you need?" he said. The voice from the other end sounded like it was trying to speak calm as they could about the situation. Milan tries not to laugh at the details, while finally saying "Thank you very much, we'll be right over." He hangs up and pushed a button on the side of the desk. The alarm bells started to ring.

Things are about to get interesting.
