DISCLAIMER: I forgot this when I first posted this...whoops. The characters do not belong to me, just the plot...and it is slash, please do not flame.
Sora was lounging on his bed when there was a knock at his window. He jumped up and quickly opened the window for Riku.
"Hey, Riku. You're a bit late, it's 10 o'clock already." Sora teased. Riku smiled and ruffled Sora's hair, mussing it further.
"Sorry Sora. My parents are really overprotective after… y'know…" the silver haired teen trailed off. There was silence until Sora grinned.
"Well, that's all over now, so let's not think about it!" the brunette said. Riku smiled back and they sat on the bed where, for the next two hours they talked about their adventures. Riku could see that his friend was getting sleepy, but he didn't say anything because it would be useless. Sora could be very stubborn. When Sora suddenly let out a huge yawn Riku spoke up.
"C'mon Sora, you need sleep." he said. Sora shook his head but Riku insisted.
"Fine, but promise me…" Sora began, stifling another yawn.
"Yes?" Riku asked.
"Promise me that we'll never be separated again." Sora whispered as slumber engulfed him.
"I promise, Sora." Riku murmured as he lay next to Sora.
"Thank you." were Sora's last words before he fell asleep.
Riku wasn't tired yet, but he was content to just watch Sora. After a while he began thinking of the times before they were separated, and then about when Kairi arrived at the Destiny Islands. He remembered the burning jealousy he had felt, and still felt, when he saw Sora and Kairi together. Until recently he thought that he was jealous of Sora. That he thought that Kairi liked Sora more. But upon the reunion (perhaps even before that) with Sora, Riku realized that he was envious of Kairi,not Sora. The long time apart from his best friend, and also fighting him, really made Riku lonely. He couldn't bear the fact that Sora was replacing him with I talking animals /I . That first meeting at Traverse Town had depressed and angered him because he felt rejected. Riku had hoped that Sora would join him.
But, of course, Donald, Goofy, and Mickey are my friends too. Riku thought as Sora rolled over and snuggled up against him. He wrapped his arms around Sora. "Silly Sora, I'd be crazy to ever leave you again. I don't want to miss you anymore." Riku whispered. Sora's eyes cracked open.
"You say something, Riku?" he asked, his speech slurred by sleep.
"Shhh, go back to sleep, Sora. I'll tell you in the morning." Riku answered. Sora pressed his face into Riku's chest and his breathing slowed and became rhythmic, he had fallen back to sleep. Riku felt that this was right, that he belonged here: with Sora.
Riku eventually succumbed to sleep. He awoke when the bright, tropical sunlight shone through the window into his eyes.
"Nnngh, Sora?" Riku mumbled.
"Hey, Sleeping Beauty." Sora piped. Riku's eyes opened and he shot up for Sora was sitting on his lap. Sora giggled. "You okay? You looked shocked for a minute. Now, you said that you would tell me something…what is it?" Sora enquired. Riku suddenly hugged the smaller boy.
"I just wanted to tell you that I love you, and I would never leave you. I'd miss you too much. I don't want to miss a thing…anything that could possibly make me love you more than I already do." Riku said fiercely, as if it were a challenge.
"Riku…" Sora whispered. Riku looked into the deep pools of blue that were Sora's eyes and Sora kissed him.
