Quinn pulled up to the Berry home at 12:03 in the morning and parked the car. She sat in the car for five more seconds and then hopped out and jogged over to the other side to open the car door for Rachel.
Rachel took Quinn's outstretched hand easily and got out of the car. As they walked up the drive towards the porch she couldn't help feeling giddy. She just had the best date ever. With Quinn Fabray. And now she was going to get kiss Quinn Fabray goodnight.
They reached the porch and looked at each other for a few seconds until Quinn leaned forward.
Rachel was ready for it. She leaned forward also. Then it happened. But not the right it. Quinn hugged her. She didn't kiss her and that confused the hell out of Rachel.
"Thanks for going out with me tonight Rachel. I had the best time." Quinn whispered into long dark hair.
"The pleasure is mine, Quinn. I had an amazing time. We should...uh...do it again some time." She said a little shakily.
"Definitely. I would love too. I'll uh see you later, goodnight."
Quinn watched Rachel unlock her door and step inside. With a final wave she closed her door.
Quinn made her way down the driveway and sat in her car for a few minutes. As Rachel's porch light turned off Quinn let out a sigh.
Good job man you total scored in the 'being a good date' department.
I know I know. I should have kissed her.
No, you should have kissed her and pushed her against the wall. You should have kissed her like you weren't scared of anything. Even if you were terrified.
God I'm so stupid!
You think?!
Rachel closed her door and locked it. She took off her coat and hung it on the coat rack.
She made her way to the light switch and flipped it off before walking over to the window silently praying that she was still there.
When she saw the red Volkswagen Bug her heart rated sped up. She was hoping that Quinn would come to her senses and come back to the door and end the night the way it was supposed to end.
She should have kissed me.
She should have pushed you against the wall.
Like nothing in the world could scare her.
What went wrong, conscience?
Why are you asking me? How the hell am I supposed to know?
I was so ready to fall for her.
This fucking sucks.
Why the hell are you still sitting here?
What am I supposed to do?
Go get your fucking girl.
Okay I can do this.
Quinn turned off the car and jumped out of the door. She sprinted through the front yard. As soon as she reached the door she raised her hand to knock but before she could the door swung open and Rachel stepped out onto the porch right in front of Quinn.
To say that she was nervous is an understatement. She was fucking scared to death.
Quinn puts her hand on the back of Rachel's neck and pulls her closer. She leans forward and presses her lips to Rachel's.
When she pulls away she caresses Rachel's cheek and brushes her thumb across slightly flushed skin. She leans forward and whispers into Rachel's ear, "Goodnight Rachel."
"Now it is." Rachel whispers back and leans forward again to kiss Quinn's cheek. She pulls back with her million dollar smile in place.
"We definitely have to do this again." She says and they both giggle.
