A/N: So, I'm not usually a big songfic person, but this song just screamed Will and Tessa in between Clockwork Prince and Clockwork Princess, especially in that line about the blue eyes. So here it is: Short and Sweet.

Tessa looked at Will sadly. He was avoiding her, and she knew why. She was sort of glad he was avoiding her because being around him was really hard. Every time she saw him she remembered that day in the library. The day he had told her he loved her and she had pushed him away. She had never thought that she could make Will Herrondale so upset. There were so many things that she wanted to tell him.
She felt like she should have known. She had known there was darkness in him, something very wrong that he kept hidden, something that made him act the way he did and say the horrible things he said, but really what could she have done?
Tessa did love Jem, she loved him more and more every day, but sometimes at night she would still dream about Will. She would think about the way he kissed her in the attic and on the Lightwood's porch, the way he held her in the sanctuary when he found out she wasn't dead…
Tessa had to come to terms with the fact that Will would never hold her like that again. That those gorgeous blue eyes that had pierced her heart from the moment they had first met would never look at her the way he used to. With hope and love.
To the rest of the world they would only be friends. Jem's parabatai and Jem's wife. Even when Jem died (a time Tessa hated to think about) they could never be together. It was hopeless.
But she knew that he still loved her. And apart of her still loved him.
She had to forget Will Herrondale. But why was it so damn hard?
She hadn't exactly lied to him, but she had implied that she didn't-couldn't love him. Maybe that would help him move on. If he moved on, maybe she could move on as well.
He would never do anything to hurt Jem, and neither would she. She couldn't dwell on any feelings she had for him and he could not dwell on his feelings for her.
But every time that she tried not to think of it, she just thought about it more. He had held her and kissed her, told her he loved her, and not just her but the words of her heart. She couldn't just forget that.
The scars on her hand still hurt from stabbing herself with that fire poker.
He had thrown himself under an exploding automaton to save her.
He had nearly died for her.
He had loved her despite his curse.
He loved her despite her engagement.
Why did he have to love her?
Why did she have to caught between the most amazing men in the world?
Will glanced at Tessa. She realized that she had been caught staring. She looked away quickly, but not before she saw his eyes. They were filled wit longing.
Her eyes were filled with longing as well, but he wouldn't see that. He would see pity, friendship, everything that he didn't want. It was for the best, Tessa knew that, but strangely it didn't make her feel better.
Tessa stood up and left the room. Will could never know those things that she was thinking. She couldn't love Will, she just couldn't, no matter what he said or did. No matter how much he loved her.
A/N: So what do you think? I honestly almost cried writing that. Maybe I was just tired.
