A/N: Be warned, it isn't a pretty piece. Takes place at the beginning of the series, Episode 1 or 2 probably
The Demon
Kagome whimpered as Inuyasha held the little pink jewel smugly in one hand. Was he really going to wish himself a demon? What would happen to her if he did?
She got up from her place on the ground where she had trips among the bones of the Centipede Creature, and began to run as the half-demon began snarling and making sounds that briefly reminded Kagome of those old American movies about werewolves.
Looking back for a moment, she thought he didn't look any different from behind, the cute-and-fuzzy dog-ears were a bit more pointed at the tips, but that could be normal. Until he turned around…
And then, for the first time since she had fallen into Sengoku Jidai, she was truly, deeply frightened. His eyes had turned blood red, with some other color in the center, but at the distance she couldn't really tell. His claws had become inches longer, and fangs hung out from under his lips.
She kept running, maybe she could make it to the well before he decided to come after her. But he had already begun to charge her down; she kept her head down, determined not to look at him. Hoping it was all just a dream.
Her foot caught on a loose tree root, falling over helplessly. She attempted to get up and begin running again, but her knee was bleeding profusely and her ankle was twisted in an unnatural manner, most likely broken.
Turning and seeing those piercing red eyes boring a hole into her she instinctively covered her face with her arms as he raised those unnaturally long claws in attack.
"Inuyasha!" she screamed as the demon brought his claws down across her chest. For a moment Kagome thought she had heard him rip through her heart, and that was her last thought as she fell to the ground.
"Finally, Kikyou is dead," he muttered in a low, guttural voice.
"What manner of beast have you become, Inuyasha!" Kaede said, startled at the scene before her.
He didn't answer, his claws ripping into the aged priestess before heading to the village.
Kagome awoke with a scream, tears falling down her face.
"Kagome!" the startled voice of Inuyasha yelped, a thud following shortly after. "What's wrong!" he asked standing up, having fallen off her desk, which he had been sitting on.
"You…oh…I…it was just a bad dream!" she wailed in relief.
Inuyasha looked at her. "All of that over a dream?" he asked in a dull, unamused voice.
Wiping the tears from her cheeks she glared. "Osuwari," she muttered.
Looking up from his new place on the floor he grumbled. "Okay, okay, sorry, sorry, it must have been a really bad dream…" he muttered reluctantly, standing up.
She smiled a little. "I hope you never change Inuyasha."
"…Whatever, you're weird Kagome."
Light ending, I know, I thought the little twist would be good. Thanks.
