"Antaeus, you will be on crowd control with Plastic Man. The rest of you pair off and prepare yourselves. We beam down in five." Batman said calmly. He turned to walk away when he felt a large hand grab his shoulder and spin him round. Antaeus stood before him, nearly seven feet in height. "Crowd control? Seriously? Look at me. I could take down the Injustice League single-handed and you put me on crowd control. How dare you? People may be afraid of you but I don't see anything scary. I just see a little man in a cape cowering among gods. What right do you have to tell me what to do?" Batman turned slightly and called, "Superman! Cover for me with this mission. I have other business to take care of." He then turned back to Antaeus and said menacingly, "Training Room. Now." He then turned and stalked of in that direction. Antaeus looked around and noticed everyone looking at him as though they feared for his life. He snorted and strode towards the training room.
When he got there he found it empty. "Chicken." He muttered under his breath and went to leave. The door suddenly sealed shut and the lights went out. "Batman." He snarled. Then he laughed, his cybernetic enhancements allowed him to see in the dark. As soon as he came to this conclusion there was a sharp crack and smoke billowed throughout the room. It blinded even his enhancements. He stumbled forward trying to find a wall to follow when he felt a punch hit him in his left kidney. He doubled over wheezing, his cybernetics didn't cover that bit. A voice whispered in his ear, "You may be a big man in the light in front of everyone else, but the shadows are mine and you're all alone. Think you're a big man? Come get me." He heard someone walk away, he headed in that direction. He then felt a sharp pain on the back of his neck and he fell to the floor. The voice whispered again, "I just paralyzed your left arm. Only temporarily. Get up. Fight me. That's what you wanted to do, isn't it?" He snarled in anger and rose to his feet and charged towards the voice. A hand snaked out and gripped his hand and twisted and he found himself face down on the floor. "If you try to move, I'll break your arm. Don't believe me?" There was a sharp crack and he nearly passed out from the pain. "That wasn't the arm, that was a few fingers, just to prove my point. I think we're done here. Lights!" The lights flickered on. A medical team rushed in and began working on Antaeus. Batman strode out of the room, straight into the path of Superman. "What did you do to him?" He said. Batman looked at him a moment before saying, "Dislocated his left arm, broke two fingers of his right hand, caused severe bruising to his kidneys, and severely damaged his colossal ego." Superman gaped at him before managing to say, "Why?" Batman replied, "He challenged me, disobeyed me. In the field that could prove lethal. I had to establish myself as above him which meant that I had to put him down. He'll live and in future he will listen to orders, whether he likes them or not." He walked away while Superman just stared after him in shock.
