We Have Forever

A short poem which will later feature in one of my books- The Broken Heart Stone. Set through the eyes of a young elf, Myral who thinks he has lost the one he loves in a fire, which makes it ironic, as they do not have forever

We have forever

We have forever,

An infinite boundary framed by absent limitations.

We have forever,

A hollow void of innumerable occasions.

We have forever,

A vast chamber of sundry gates unlocked.

We have forever,

Time remains perpetual and mocked.

Yet the world is fading from our grasp.

Through our very fingers immortality escapes,

Fleeting from the hostile scars of our past,

Left alone to our fate.

Every year we squandered together elapsed in but a moment,

Every day apart endured an eternity.

Oh, to go back to before we were broken,

Before the inferno parted you from me.

We have a lonely forever,

Or we have but a blissful flash.

But one day we shall be together,

Our fates entwined once more with ash.

Though the past smoulders finitely,

And the future appears unclear,

Through the haze our spirits will finally

Find each other in a love sincere.
