Fallen On The Battlefield
Disclaimer: I do not own Supernatural or any of the characters, they belong to their respective owners, I also do not own the song "I'll carry you home," by James Blunt.
Dear Dean,
the day you were taken from the world was a day that was obvious, dreaded, feared and expected. You died the way you had lived, in death, destruction. Doing your duty to the Human race.
You were another soldier who had fallen on the battlefield, blended into a memory that would slip away with time.
It is time for peace now. You've done so much, your time for rest is well deserved and long overdue, you can let someone else take your place now, your work is done.
But even though I understand that more than most, I still felt my Angelic heart shatter into a million tiny pieces of sharp dust as I saw your eyes close.
I don't know if you remember the moment, but I stayed with you in your final moments. You did not die alone.
I knew I'd have to be the one to do it, to take you away from the Earth you care about so much, the job you've devoted your life too, the brother who needs you.
I wonder if you'll ever forgive me for that.
I raised you from Hell, Dean Winchester. I brought you back to life and from that moment on I have never felt more connected with anyone.
Even though I knew I would see your eyes again, smell your scent, be around you and be able to talk to you...seeing you crash to the ground, I will never be the same again.
Watching all that strength and life that made you, trickle away.
I'm writing this because I need you to come with me, I need you to accept the afterlife and finally be at peace.
I couldn't bare to watch you stuck in this half-life, soon to become so consumed by your own fury you lose everything that made me love you.
I promise you I will look down upon your brother until he joins you.
And I promise to take you to your family if you come.
They're waiting.
I promise to stay by your side forever. In death, as I did in life.
You were so strong, Dean. But you went so tenderly, passed over to me like a vulnerable child. Like a flower, a tear drop.
The same that fell from my eyes as I watched you breathing on Earth for the very last time.
Every Human heart has a song only an Angel can hear, and I'll stay by your side until I can hear your song fade away.
I know what it means, it means it's your time. Your time to rest, to be with those you lost, to be with me.
To become more of an Angel than I ever could be.
It is time for God to give you your wings.
I promise there will be no Reapers, you are my friend and I will look after you.
I will carry you to Heaven.
I will carry you home.
Your Castiel
