Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.
Dear Diary,
I think I'm going to be sick. Ron and Lavender are attached at the hip. What does he in see her anyway? She's so stupid and obnoxious. It hurts me to admit it but she is pretty. I thought he liked me. I really did. Every time Malfoy calls me a "Mudblood" Ron sticks up for me. Harry told me that when I was petrified second year Ron almost cried when he saw my body. Shouldn't those be signs? Well, he is pretty thick. I know, I help him with homework all the time. Love is more painful than the Cruciatus Curse. I'm going to stop babbling about love before I sound like a love-obsessed Hufflepuff.
Professor Slughorn's Christmas party is coming up and I don't have a date. Obviously Ron is going with Lavender. Harry is going with Luna. Poor Harry! Peeves and Ron were giving him a hard time for asking out Luna. Harry was just being his sweet self. Ron can so full of it sometimes! In Transfiguration we were practicing self- transfigurations. Harry gave himself a blond eyebrow which he still hasn't gotten rid of. It's quite hilarious. Ron gave himself the most ridiculous looking mustache! I couldn't help laughing until Ron began mocking me! We tease each other all the time but he finally crossed the line.
Anyway, I need to go with someone who will make Ron jealous. Neville? No way. He's too sweet to make Ron's blood boil. Seamus? Gross! He's got the maturity of a Cornish pixy and his spells always go haywire. Dean's going out with Ginny so he's definitely out of the question. There's got to someone will make Ron bloody jealous. Maybe Zacharias Smith. Ron doesn't like him very much.
I wish Victor was here. Ron would definitely be threatened by another Quidditch player. Aha! That's it! I'll ask Cormac McLaggen. He's perfect. Ron hates him the way Harry hates Malfoy. Of course Cormac will say yes. He lost the position of keeper for our Quidditch team to Ron. I heard that Cormac is spreading a rumor that Harry picked Ron out of favoritism which not true. Ron made the team on pure talent or so I hope. He hasn't done well in any of the matches so far.
I can't stand the Slytherins. They're bloody rude and stuck up! Pure bloods! What nonsense! Why just the other day I saw Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle tripping first years on the stairs! It's hard enough just being a first year but to be bullied by Malfoy! Well, that makes things worse. Luckily, Professor McGonagall caught them and took twenty points from each of them.
Alright, Diary, here's the plan: ask out Cormac, announce during lunch before the party in Great Hall loud and clear in front of Ron that I have a date with Cormac, and kiss Cormac under mistletoe with Ron watching. Ron is going to be so jealous! Well, I probably should go look for Cormac so I can ask him out instead of rambling on like a Quick Quotes Quill. Plus, I have a ton of work to do. I promise to write in detail about the party and Ron's reaction.
Until then,
Hermione Granger
