Peridot sat in her bed room, on her bed, with her laptop. She also had her music playing loudly as to block out the sounds of the storm outside. Even still her music never seemed to be loud enough to block out each loud crash and of thunder and she could still see each bright flash of lighting. Every once in a while flinching as she was unprepared for it.
Peridot couldn't even help being scared of the storm; she never has been able to get over each loud sound and bright light, evening knowing that when she was inside she had very little chance of being harmed by it.
Almost about an hour in to the storm there was a horribly bright flash of lighting as the power cut off, Leaving Peridot alone in the dark.
Her laptop which was old and broken and normally needed to be plugged in to work was off, and even if it wasn't she had no way of listening to music without the internet.
"Shit…" she whispered under her breath placing the computer beside her. Peridot then pulled her legs closer to her chest, hiding her face in her knees she tried to ignore the storm, or at least try to not cry about it. That would make her look stupid and childish, well she thought it would.
The door to her room opened slowly, causing Peridot to jump (kicking herself in the face during said processed) and even scream a little.
"Peridot!" it was Lapis. "Are you okay?"
Peridot went back to her before position. "I'm fin-"
She was cut off by a bright flash she tensed, as she waited for the following thunder letting out the smallest sound that would be a kin to a sob. Lapis stood by the door for a second before closing it slowly and moving toward Peridot.
"it's okay" she said sitting down by the other and pulling her into a hug.
"It's not though!" Peridot choked barring her face in Lapis's shoulder. "It's just sounds I shouldn't be afraid of SOUNDS!"
Lapis rubbed Peridots shoulder shushing her trying her best to calm the other "it really is fine Peridot we are all scared of something, even if it's stupid." Peridot didn't reply but she became less tense meaning she understood what lapis said at least a little.
Lapis moved her index finger under Peridot's chin and thumb below her lip "look at me" She said bring the others face to meet hers "I'll always be around for you if you get scared"
Peridot gave a small nod.
Then they kissed.
