Washu slumped in her bus seat. She was going on a class trip to an archaeology dig. An archaeology dig! How fucking boring could you get? Her friend Heather, cheerful as ever, smiled down at her hunched form.
"Come on Washu, this is gonna be great!"
"How is this going to be great?" Washu whined. "Oh look, there's a rock. And another rock. And, oh, what is this? Another fucking rock!"
After quickly looking around to see if a teacher had heard her friends outburst, Heather laughed. "It's not going to be like that, I promise. Apparently they found something important."
"I believe it when I see it." Washu picked up her backpack, which was lighter than usual today, since it only contained a camera, sketch pad, flashlight, and a few volumes of manga.
The bus stopped in front of the dig site, which was carved out of the side of a hill. A large hill, but still... Washu had a feeling that it was going to be damp, crowded, and smelly. The class of about 20 students filed into the site, while a guide at the head of the line droned on about historical importance and how they weren't supposed to touch anything.
They were lead to a room where a large stone circle sat, with strange glyphs marking the edges, and a large circular stone in front of it, with the same glyphs, and what looked to be a glass dome in the center. The class stayed there for about 5 minutes, while the guide talked about how important the discovery was, even though they had no fucking clue what it was, or what it did, before they were lead into another room.
"Oh fuck." Washu started picking up the contents of her backpack, which had spilled across the stone floor. Heather told the teacher she was going to help Washu with her stuff, as the class went ahead without them. "Have you seen my camera?"
"Maybe it fell in the room with that giant circle." Heather said.
Heather and Washu walked into the first room, and there it was, by the circular stone. Washu bent over and picked it up, when all of a sudden the large circle began to spin, and the glyphs glowed red.
"Fuck, Katie, you didn't touch that pedestal thing, did you?" Heather asked, a panicked look on her face.
"Fucking hell, I didn't touch anything!" Washu panicked.
A large white plume of something shot out of the circle, then retracted in on itself, and the whole surface of the circle rippled blue. Washu and Heather stood frozen in awe, and more than a little fear and panic.
Before they knew what was happening, four figures stepped out the portal, and the strange blue shimmer disappeared. There was an older looking man, a young handsome man with glasses, a large black man with a gold mark on his forehead, and a young woman.
"Hello." the young man said. "My name is Daniel Jackson."
"Come on Washu, this is gonna be great!"
