A Sakura tree once told me:
'Pink looks good on you.'
It's been 11 years since that day, when I, Ichigaya Arisa, found out that I can talk to plants.
You know what's great about being 5 and telling everyone that you could do such a thing? That no one will actually believe you. By the time I was 7, I pretty much gave up and decided to keep my power a secret. I'm ok with that though, don't worry. There's always some shady people ready to take advantage of anyone with special or unnusual abilities, y'know?
On a happier note, Did you know bonsai are great talking partners? Well, inside-plants in general, since they are the only one, along with trees, that can communicate in human language. Flowers, grass, vines, bushes, they all just like... communicate through sensations? Is a bit hard to explain, but my hability doesn't properly let me talk with them, I just get feelings like 'the grass is telling me there's a coin hidden near by' or 'flowers are making too much noise about spring', things like that.
Fruit, veggies, tuberous, seeds, those simply don't talk, just so you know. It would be like taking to a person's hair or nails. Besides, I wouldn't be able to eat them, right? Screaming salad, potatoes that begs for thier life... ugh, just thinking about it make me lose my appetite.
What's left to explain? The source of my power, maybe, but I seriously have no idea where they came from. One second, I was playing in the park, the next one, a tree talks to me. Is not like it doesn't interest me but looking for an answer sounds like a lot of work and is not like I have another reason to do it besides my own curiosity.
SHE would totally drag me out to investigate it though. I mean, she already dragged me to all kinds of things since I know her. Is pretty much the reason why we are on a band together.
Maybe one day I'll tell her. And the others. When I learn how to be more honest about how I feel.
I want to share my true feelings with each and every member of Poppin Party. Feelings that flowers usually express better than people. Maybe because they don't need words to do it.
I just don't want to be one of those know-it-all trees, like the ones at Tatsumaki-san's garden. I was so stressed that day that I barely paid any attention to the green and yet, when we were leaving, just right after she grabbed my hand and smile at me in one her 'just because' moods, I swear one of those sakura trees said the same words I heard 11 years ago.
'Pink looks good on you.'
Misaki put the piece of paper back on the math book she borrowed from Arisa.
"Ichigaya-san should be more carefull with her vent writings. Well, whatever. I'll just pretend I never saw this."
She got up her desk, opened the window and looked at the birds chirping on a tree near by.
'Could you guys shut up a lil?'
The annoying cacophonia gradually ceased until it completely stopped.
"But seriously Ichigaya-san." She said with a sigh. "We really are similar."
She closed the window and went back to study.
