Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Well it's been a while but I've finally decided to rewrite this whole story. It's basically the same concept as the first one (for those of you who read it) but written completely different. Anyway, just thought I let ya know.
Forbidden Love

Chapter One: Prologue
The time was drawing ever closer, her first real love would soon be leaving her and she feared that she'd never see him again. He had joined the army out of honor and duty; he had said it was considered a great honor to protect your village but an even greater honor to protect the one you love.
The tears swelled up in her eyes as she watched him ready his horse, she hoped that he wouldn't notice. As he turned to look at her a tear managed to escape and roll down her cheek and she quickly turned her attention to the ground.
"I'm sorry" she whispered, her voice slightly cracking.
"For what?" he asked "I'd be hurt if you didn't cry, I would think that you wouldn't miss me"
She wanted so badly to be with him but she knew that could never happen. She was after all a princess and he was a commoner.
As she looked up she saw his piercing violet eyes staring back at her and she felt as if she were paralyzed; she couldn't think, couldn't talk, couldn't move, all she could do was stare back at him.
"I don't want to leave you but…"
"I know, it's a great honor"
"And as a man of this village it's also my duty to help protect everyone here, I can't deny the fact that it is dangerous but at least if I die, I won't die a coward."
"Oh Miroku" she cried as she wrapped her arms her arms around him. "I… I really wish you wouldn't say things like that" she continued with tears streaming down her face.
"Sango…" he responded embracing her.
"Promise me that you'll come back to me."
"But I..."
"Please Miroku"
"I…I… promise"
As soon as those words fell from his lips he wished that he could take them back. After all he had just made a promise that would be nearly impossible to keep.
"Miroku, we gotta go" his friend shouted
"It's time" he told her as he lifted her chin so he could look into her eyes.
He gently wiped away her tears and kissed her on the cheek. As he started to get on his horse he remembered something… something that he considered to be very special.
"Sango"
"Yes"
"I almost forgot to give you something. It isn't much and it's definitely not expensive, in fact I made it. I thought it would be more meaningful that way." He said as he pulled from his pocket, a simple silver band and placed it on her finger.
"Miroku it's beautiful, I love it!" she responded. "I can't wait to show it to Kagome; I'll tell her it's my promise ring"
"Promise ring?"
"Yeah, you promised you'd come back to me and you gave me a ring, a promise ring"
"Promise ring…" he sighed heavily as he got on his horse.
"Miroku!!" his friend shouted again.
"Coming!" he responded "Bye Sango"
"Bye"
She watched as he rode off, clutching her ringed finger over her heart the tears starting to flow once again. She turned and started walking towards Kagome's hut. She knew she wasn't the only one who was worried about losing the man she loved. Kagome's husband, Inuyasha, had also joined the army leaving her home alone with their newborn son.
"I shouldn't have made him promise" she whispered to herself "What if he doesn't come back?"
End Chapter 1
AN: Not much really I just thought I'd let everyone know that the prologue was a flashback. Of course you probably had that figured out already. Review please.
