Anath Adrasteia stepped out of the portal into the forests of Jeffreys. Her posture was relaxed, but mere moments after setting foot on Indines she lashed out at a nearby tree with her glaive. The trunk exploded, a mass of insects that had burrowed into the wood spraying out. Both were incinerated as Anath's glaive burned with a ferocious heat. From another tree came words, not truly spoken, but more formed from the combined sound of many clicking insects.
"It's a little rude of me, but I'm sorry to say I haven't come in person."
Anath didn't bother turning to face the voice.
"That's a shame Kajia, getting to kill you so soon would have been a stroke of luck. I see you meddled with the point of my return. You simply delay the inevitable. In time I will make it to my intended destination." said Anath, pausing briefly before adding,
"Perhaps I should extend my journey slightly to purge some unsavory elements enroute, starting with you and your precious forest."
Enraged clicking noises of insects began all around Anath, with Kajia's insectile voice emanating from all sides now, saying
"We defeated your master Havoc, what makes you think you will be any different."
"You will know soon enough." replied Anath
"You do not need to do this Adrasteia. I did not serve Havok despite the allegiance of the rest of the husks. You too can break free from him and his purpose."
Even as Kajia spoke her entreaty, Anath summoned a powerful wind, creating a cushion of air below her and rising from the ground. Once she was just above the tree line, she leaned forward and sped south towards Gesselheim. As much as Anath wished to burn Kajia and her forest to the ground, it would have to wait. Kajia was no fool and had allies. Truth be told Kajia had more powerful friends than she had initially believed, given that she interfered with her entering Indines at her intended location.
Anath did not need friends, but she did need allies. There were many in this world who could be swayed to assist her in exchange for petty possessions or other services. She knew her own power and though it was great, it would not be enough. For the task of destroying the beings of Indines, she would gather as many agents as she could. She would undermine their society, eliminat troublesome foes, and gather power. Havok was strong, but he was an arrogant fool. She would not mimic his mistakes. By the time she stepped out of the shadows to deliver armageddon to the people of Indines, there would be nothing left to stop her.
Khadath paused in his reading as the edges of his monocle filled with swirling patterns. One of the many traps he had set between worlds had clearly been sprung. A moment more spent studying the reading and he realized which trap it was.
"Shit….."
