"Go on boy, fetch!"
A red ball sailed across the darkening sky and entered the forest. A dog ran after it.
Five minutes passed by and Remus began to worry. It never took this long for Ace to retrieve the ball. He glanced back towards his home, noting that his mother was still busy in the kitchen, and took his first steps towards the was at the entrance when he heard a rustling noise.
"Ace?" He murmured, his blue eyes squinting to see through the shadows. Yellow eyes stared right at him. Remus gasped and took a step back. That wasn't Ace.
A growl ripped through the silence of the night and out jumped a massive figure. Remus screamed but before he could run away, it pounced.
Remus screamed louder as he felt his shoulders dislocate and a white hot pain filled his body. He felt a drop of something fall into his face and looked up into his attacker's, trying to see through the blinding pain.
It was a werewolf.
He screamed. He called for his mother, for his father, for someone to help him. Oh, why didn't he listen to his mother when she asked him to stay in doors?
Remus squirmed, using his legs to try to push the werewolf off of him, but it made the monster angrier. The werewolf snarled and bit into the boy's shoulder.
Tears spilled down from his cheek, a piercing scream slipping out of his mouth.
"GET AWAY FROM MY SON!"
The crushing weight of the werewolf suddenly disappeared. Remus sobbed and slowly brought himself to his knees. He saw his mother standing in front of him, a frying pan in her shaky hands, tears and fear marking her lovely pale face.
The werewolf stood a couple of feet away, Remus's blood dripping from his snout.
"Remus, sweetheart, when I tell you to go, you run inside the house and lock the doors. Do not turn back. Do not let anyone in. Do you understand?" Mrs. Lupin demanded, her eyes never straying from the beast in front of them. The werewolf licked his lips and crouched, yellow eyes staring at her.
"Do you understand Remus?" She repeated, harsher this time. Remus sobbed, but quietly answered his mother.
"Good. Remmy, I love you sweetheart. Don't forget that please."
The werewolf jumped.
"Run!" Mrs. Lupin shrieked, swinging her pan. He ran.
He got so far into the basement, before he collapsed in exhaustion and fear. He wept as he heard his mother's screams and the werewolf's triumph howl before everything went silent.
Remus Lupin was six the day he lost everything. He lost his mother. He lost his father's love. He lost his dog. He lost his chance for a normal life.
A/N: Hiya! This originally wasn't my intention. I was writing this "Remus-gets bitten" story as a smaller segment for a one-shot I am currently working in,but it's clear that I got carried away. Oopsie. Hopefully this was an easy read for you. Let me know what you think.
