Summary: For a little while, he lived in a dream.

It had always been like this. What did he expect?

He was the 'other' in the family. The other because he was only a shadow. A mere extra to his bright, cheerful brother.

He didn't mind.

Not really.

That was all he wanted anyway. For other people to leave him alone.

He might be good at a lot of things, but he was always better.

He might try to be obedient but it was hard to keep his attitude to himself. He always ends up snapping, saying stuffs that wound others, getting him into further trouble.

He was hard to crack. He knows it himself so he wonders why. Why of all people did she chose him?

He always sent her looks of doubt. Each time she talked to him, he was suspicious of her motive. His tenses up whenever she's around because she tries to get close to him. It continued on and on until he sighed and let her come close.

To the same room as his, to the same seat as his, to his personal bubble.

It's thanks to her bribing him, he'll always say to himself.

He doesn't know how she knew, and he never complained as well. Free food is free food, after all.

Especially if it's his favorite ice cream.

Yes, he was easy.

Too easy that he stumbled at the sight of her smile, at the ringing of her voice, at the scent of her perfume.

He knew that it was too good to be true, so he didn't wonder, he didn't ask when he caught the rumors that was circling the school.

A talk that he caught a hint of for a long time, but he, being a dumb, dumb boy, let if fall on deaf ears.

Poor guy, being used just to get closer to his brother.

He knew it. It was too good to be true.

He should've known better.

It was always like this.

He was always the better one.

And so he pulled back.

Let the pieces fall back to where it started, back to zero where he let the days go by without a care, where he let the people around chatter in their whimsical tales.

Thinking that they're the main characters in their story.

Just like him who was merely a side character pretending to be the main hero.

He resisted the urge to spend more time with her, refused to let her in his room, turned himself away whenever he sees her frame.

She could just go to Sora's.

He never did notice what she felt about his actions.

The confusion, hurt, sadness.

Yeah. There's no way in hell it was possible that she was interested in him.

The moments they shared was a dream.

That's exactly what it was, a dream.

And that's all it ever will be.

A dream he'll soon forget as he wakes up.

notes: While working on another fluff, I finished this one. I've always wanted to try writing sad stuff about them, but it just never gets finished or becomes fluff. I imagine this as rokunami (as always) but I guess the girl can depend on the reader's preference because no names are mentioned. (except Sora lol) Hope it's not that bad.
