It was movie night in Stark tower. Petra was sitting with Bruce in the loveseat, whispering everything wrong with the movie to him. Bruce mostly indulged her, asking questions where he was interested in clarification and hugging her tighter when he wanted her to be quiet in the movie. Petra would pout when he did that, but she would be quiet at let him enjoy the movie. Tony would be in the cushy seat beside the loveseat, watching the movie and his daughter in turns. Captain America would be on the actual sofa, paying rapt attention in an attempt to keep up with the references he was left out on. Clint and Natasha were both given leave by Nick Fury to join the team for those bonding attempts, and would normally sit beside Steve, silently alternating between wishing that they were somewhere else and enjoying the domesticity of the scene. Thor wasn't actually with them on movie night because he was of on some business in Assgard. Still, the rest of the Avengers were all there for the mundane event of movie watching.
The movies, which had started as a joke, had become a way for the team to recover from the mess with Captain America. There were quite a few tensions raised by the event, and Director Fury was trying to mend the team enough to keep them capable on going on missions together eventually. Petra, as she was irritated by any attempt to call her Spiderman nowadays, was going through the crucial phase of being acclimated to the team. Nick Fury knew that she wasn't going to abandon the team, but the others had yet to adapt to her presence. Tony Stark had actually promised to hold of on telling the world that Spiderman was his daughter until she was an adapted member of the team, and Nick Fury didn't plan on letting that promise fall through.
Still, what fallowed was much tenser than the movies were. During the movie itself, there wasn't much need for communication. Any talk was usually limited to the person who most shared your view on the situation, or occasionally the person nest to you. Steve would argue with Tony about what movie to watch and whether the rating was appropriate, simply because they were both egotistical men who wanted to lead the group. Petra would analyze everyone's actions with Bruce, simply because that amused her and had helped Bruce avoid anger in situations for years. Natasha and Clint would mostly keep silent as they watched to movie, but any complaints or interests were shared with each other, mostly because they both empathized with the other's wish to be somewhere else. Clint wished that the movie nights were with his family, and Natasha couldn't shake her disgust at the idleness. When the movie was over, they all stayed over for dinner.
It isn't possible to have a comfortable meal when some people won't talk with each other. If people were content to talk in corners, talking would be either yelling or whispers, depending on the closeness of your friend. People would be jostled in the attempts to grab food from across the table. Gossip would be overheard, making people embarrassed. Steve's manners wouldn't allow him to be that rude. Neither Clint, Natasha, nor Petra wanted a reprimand for that behavior from their boss. Tony wasn't against that behavior in general, but he did want to use the opportunity to get to know his daughter, so he would socialize with multiple people at once for the meal, something that he was fully capable of doing. Bruce had no problem being quiet, but he wasn't going to ignore anyone who spoke to him. As such, there were conversations, no matter how stilted they were.
Still, things were awkward. A few topics were just avoided. Sometimes fights broke out at the table. Hulk had come out and growled at people just as often as anyone else snapped at someone. The most obvious source of unease was apparent when Hulk came out. When Hulk had an official handler, the risk he posed in everyday life was not a teasing matter anymore, no matter what anyone had thought before.
