Jane's POV

Several months later...

"Ready, Maura?" I asked my girlfriend for the past five months. As she came out she said, "Yes Jane, lets go." Today is the day we come out to my family, we were a little scared how would Tommy react. You see he and Maura were dating, when they were dating he was abusing her. So she broke up with him.

Then few months later we confessed our love for each other and now we are dating. We grabbed our coats and I got the keys. "Jo and Bass we'll be back soon." I yelled into the house. I closed and locked the door. We made our way into my car.

I put my hand on Maura's knee and asked her, "You ready to tell my family we're dating?" She looked me in the eyes and replied, "More then ever,sweetie." I gave her a kiss and I started up the car. It took us about 20 minutes to my Ma's house.

When we got there it was eight sixteen. 'Just in time' I thought to myself. I stopped the car and we got out. "Ready?"I asked one more time. "Yes,Jane, but the real question is are you ready?"she asked me. I gulped and replied, "Yes, lets go in."

We walked to the front door and rang the doorbell. After a minute or two and a couple of yells the door opened. "Janie and Maura,you two are here!" exclaimed my Ma,Angela. "Yea,we're here." I replied as we walked in the house, while talking our coats off.

"Maura how are you?"asked Angela. She looked at me and then replied, "Fine, thank you for asking." Ma started to walk to the kitchen and we followed her. "Hey Janie and Doc!" exclaimed my brother, Frankie.

"How are you two?"he asked. I looked at Maura and replied, "Fine, thank you." Then Maura replied, "Well, how about you?" He gave us a smile, "Good. Right Tommy?" Tommy looked at us and just nodded.

"Ma do you need any help?" I asked to avoid any talking with Tommy until dinner. "Yea can you and Maura help me bring out the food." she replied. "Sure, came on Maura." I replied as we walk into the kitchen.

My brothers were watching baseball, Red Soxs vs the Yankees. After anther 20 minutes we all sat at the table and started to eat. About the middle of dinner Maura nudged me to tell everyone about us dating. "Excuse me everyone I have something to say," I started to say and everyone looked at me, "Maura and I are dating."

Ma and Tommy were shocked, and Frankie was smiling. "I knew it, I won the bet!" shouted Frankie. We all looked at him. "What bet?" Ma asked him. "The one that Frost,Korsak and I had, if Jane and Maura were getting together."he replied.

"How long have you two been dating?" asked Tommy. I looked at Maura and she replied, "A few months after we broke up." Tommy looked sad but said, "I'm happy for you two." Ma then said, "I always wanted a doctor in the family." Everyone was laughing and smiling.

The rest of the dinner went smoothly and by 9:30 we had finished and cleaned everything up. "Thanks for the dinner, see you next week." Maura said as we walked out the door. I gave her a kiss and we headed to the car.

"That wasn't bad as I thought it be."I said as we got in the car. "I love you Jane." Maura said. "I love you too Maura." I replied as I started the car and drove home.
