My first one-shot. Hope you like it. Italics are thoughts. Italics in bold are Iceland-kun's thoughts. Emil id Iceland, Lukas is Norway. Enjoy-
There was only one person in his memory. Lukas, his silent brother who lives in a silent world.
Silent
He had always been there. Had always been there when Emil was jeered at.
Isn't it my fault?
Lukas waved to nobody. Lukas mumbled to the air. Lukas touched things that did not exist.
It is my fault so I have to stay by you
Although Lukas could not hear he could see. He could see when people made rude faces at his Emil. He could see the little hands ball into fists.
Are they saying bad things to you again?
He would then bend down and wrap his warm hands around the teary eyed boy's ears.
See, now you can't hear them
Emil would then elax his hands and smile at Lukas. Lukas would then scoop up the little laddie and carry him home.
Were my hands warm ?
Whenever Emil was upset over his grades, Lukas covered the small child's ears. Whenever Emil questioned why Heavenly Daddy took Mama and Papa, Lukas placed his big hands over the laddie's ears.
Your hands are always there
They give me comfort
So please don't take them away
There, I have given you your comfort
I will never take these hands away
Comfort doesn't last
It doesn't last
However hard you wish for it
It always goes away
Emil, Emil
Beep, beep
Lukas, Lukas
Beep beep
I am sorry I have to break that promise
I am sorry I cannot see that truck
Beep Beep
Lukas, can I be selfish today?
I don't want you to go away
Beep Beep
Emil, I cannot hold on any more
Beep Beep
How will you cover my ears now
Beep Beep
Plop plop
Why do you cry?
Because you are going away
Beep Beep
plop plop plop
Emil, come here
Emil moves closer to his dying brother. With weak hands, Lukas found his way to his beloved Emil's ears.
See, I have given you comfort
Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.
Emil watches as weak hands fall away.
Emil watches as the doctors push Lukas to a strange room.
He could feel his brother's thin fingers still on his ears.
The sensation lingered.
It made Emil smile.
Thank you brother
For making your hands
Stay warm
Even on the brink of your death.
