Moonlight

Hitomi blushed, after weeks of working up the nerve, tonight was the night. Tonight she would see Van in private and then. Hitomi began to giggle as she thought of what she wanted to do with the young king.
Van was confused, Hitomi sure was acting strange. For the past week she had been smiling and clutching her bag whenever he came near her. Then this morning, she ran up to him and shoved a note in his hand. It said that she wanted to see him tonight by a bridge. Van shrugged his shoulders, maybe it was the full moon that was making her act so strange. He pulled out his sword and began to polish it. It was so long and hard as he expertly moved the cloth up and down. A smile crossed his face as he thought about tonight. Maybe he should tell Hitomi how he felt, but what if she wanted to tell him she was going home? He stroked harder as he thought of everything he wanted to tell her.
Hitomi adjusted her skirt and gazed at her reflection one more time. Only an hour until she was alone with him. Soon everything would be perfect, it would just be him and her, alone on the bridge. With both the moon and Earth shining upon them, it would be very quiet and then she'd tell him. It was perfect, nothing could go wrong.
Not even a jealous catgirl. Of course Merle was spying on Hitomi. After all, she had a right, no a duty, to make sure Van-sama was safe. That or to make sure that weirdo with the pendant didn't steal him from her. Merle growled as she saw how happy that floozy was. How dare she try to seduce her Van-sama? Angrily, the young cat dashed over to where Van was. When she saw him polishing his sword and moaning Hitomi, her mood quickly changed. Van was happy, and it wasn't with her. Without him noticing, she ran out before he saw her.
Soon night fell on Gaia, and sure enough, two fiftieth year olds were on an old bridge. Both the moon and they mystic moon shone brightly upon the young couple. Hitomi fidgeted with her pendent, maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Van strangely found an interesting spot on his shoes that he never noticed before.
"Van." Hitomi whispered.
'This is it.' Van thought. 'I wonder what she wants.'
"We've been traveling together for awhile now and…"
"You don't need to say anything."
"Yes I do." She yelled. "I…I want you to share something with you. Something that's very special to me."
Van gulped, it was more serious then he thought. "You do?"
"Yes, here." Hitomi pulled out a colorfully wrapped box from her bag. "For you."
Hesitantly, Van took the gift. Hitomi found her own interesting spot at the ground to stare at while he opened it.
Van gasped, did Hitomi expect this of him? Maybe he should try it.
"Hitomi?"
"I thought you could use it more then me. Every time I see your wings you're always molting. So I thought this book would help you."
Van stared at the book, "How to care for wings." He read.
The two of them went back to Hitomi's chamber and read all night long. Soon, Van would learn how to keep his wings from molting so much.
