"Rey!" He shouted through the wind.

Kylo Ren felt a deep ache in the bottom of his heart as he watched the force bonded girl fell to the ground and let out a muffled cry of pain.

The knight ignited his lightsaber and ran over the debris of the battle, blocking blaster shots and slaughtering stormtroopers that stood in his way. He knew killing the troopers would result in punishment, but nothing would hurt more than this.

"Rey!" He shouted again, slicing through another stormtrooper, running as fast as humanly possible.

He ran to her small, strong body that lay by the shore line of the translucent lake, a blood pooling out of her side where a blaster shot hit her.

He took off his helmet and through it into the water, and kneeled, scooping her up into his arms. He ran a gloved hand across her forehead, moving a few strands away from her face.

Her hand reached up to him, and touched his chest, her dark eyes holding his gaze.

"Rey," he said again, this time, a soft whisper.

"Ben..." she mumbled. "I... I tried my hardest... tell Master Luke I tried..."

Tears welled up in his eyes, and he felt torn at the seams. He didn't lose his temper when she called him Ben like he usually did. He wasn't trying to kill her or persuade her to join him.

Rey, the girl he held a force bond with, was dying.

"Rey, don't leave," he told her, "You are the only light I have left, you can't go."

He bit his lip as the tears rolled down his cheeks. Never had he felt so weak in battle.

"Rey, I can heal you, I can try." He said, and started to focus all of his force energy towards the thought of Rey and her injury.

"Ben, don't." She said, "You'll hurt yourself.

He stared at her, trying to memorize as much as he could. This girl, that had seen him kill his own father, injure her friends and slaughter dozens of people across the galaxy, didn't want him to hurt himself over her.

"Rey I want to. I have to try." He says.

"Ben please, don't do it." She argues. "It's too late."

"It's never too late."

She smiles weakly at him, "Then go home, Ben Solo. It's not too late to return to the light."

He nodded, and brought her hand up to his lips and kissed it. "I will, I promise, but I need your help, you need to live and stay with me."

"Ben, I will always be with you." She said. "Always."

Ben Solo sat and watched as the light, that guided him through so much, left Rey's eyes and she fell limp into his arms, before disappearing into thin air, leaving only her Jedi cloak that had once been his, and the hilt of an infamous blue lightsaber behind.
