Superman streaked the skies high above Metropolis, and a lone watcher followed him easily with her eyes. She admired his tight fitting uniform, her eyes pausing momentarily between his thighs. Superman indeed. She calculated an intercept course and blurred in front of him. She saw him stop mid air, startled, and watched as his eyes helplessly drifted downward of their own accord. She smirked and folded her hands, emphasising her bust.
"See something you like Kal-El?"
"Yes... uh, I mean no! I mean, not that they aren't nice you know, but..." he trailed off as he realised he was blabbering like a teen in front of one of the world's most beautiful women. He cleared his throat, gathering up whatever dignity he had left, "Karen, it's great to see you. It's been quite a while. How are you?"
Karen Starr, known as Power Girl to most, smiled warmly at him. "I've been good, Kal-El. Come, I hope you aren't too busy. I wished we could get something to eat and catch up."
Kal stared at her for a second as she turned around and drifted away without waiting for an answer. Her cape momentarily lifted and his eyes automatically dropped to her soft derriere, left bare by the ridiculously tight and revealing one piece armor that she wore. She looked back at him, and asked with a silky voice, "Coming, Kal-El?" He looked up guiltily, caught, and followed her without a word as she flew, laughing that sexy laugh of hers.
She led him to her home, they could hardly go anywhere else, dressed as they were in their costumes. They took off their capes and hung them on the coat rack near the door. She asked him to make himself comfortable on her couch and excused herself to go change into comfortable clothing. He'd been to her house a few times before when she'd thrown parties for the members of the Justice League. He'd been quite impressed the first time he'd come here, a prominent multi-million dollar mansion on the famed Beverly Hills of Los Angeles. Of course, it was no surprise that she lived an opulent life. Being the largest shareholder and CEO of Starr enterprises, she was one of the wealthiest people on the League, maybe trailing Bruce, but certainly on par with Ollie. He stretched out on the plush, pale blue couch and relaxed, he'd had quite a taxing day, and a coffee and the company of an good friend were just what he needed. He hit a few buttons on the embossed interface on his wrist and the boots on his nano-suit dissolved back jnto his suit. He spotted the day's Daily Planet spread out on the table in front of him. He heard Karen approach and turned around, about to ask her what her thoughts were on his latest piece about inter-planet diplomacy, but the question froze on his lips and he stared. Only for a second, sure, but that was a lifetime for a Kryptonian. Compared to her usual designer outfits, she was dressed very simply, in an electric blue Nike sports bra and a pair of midnight-black Nike shorts that were not more than a couple of inches long. The rest of her glorious body was in clear view. She had wide hips, a perfect hourglass figure, he absently noted. Her abs were "fucking insane", as Wally would've put it. Clark gulped and openly asked, "How do you manage to look so beautiful all the time, Karen?"
Karen smiled widely at him, genuinely happy with his comment. She knew that she was a beautiful woman, and she certainly had no shortage of admirers, even people who leered at her amd made crude passes, but Kal's pure honesty made his comment especially pleasing to her.
She headed to the bar on one of the side walls and said to him over her shoulder, with a rather sultry tone, "I could ask the same of you, Kal."
Kal blushed, and as she bent over the bar counter, his eyes once again dropped to her back and he willed his brain not to short circuit. Her short shorts clung to every curve of her ass and were sucked in at the middle, clearly outlining her two beautiful moons. With a smile, she suddenly turned and threw a bottle of Merlot at him at a supersonic speed. Clark caught it without batting an eye and calmly read the custom label.
"Great choice, Karen. I love Merlot."
The couch shifted as she sat down and handed him a wine glass. He poured a glass of wine for each of them and they sat back, relaxing on the soft cushions, and a comfortable silence descended between them, each content to just enjoy the other's presence. This was what he loved about Karen, as flirtatious and promiscous as she was, there was not an ounce of pretense on the woman. She was unerringly honest and had an easygoing, down-to-earth personality that lit up every room that she entered, you know, just in case her extraordinary beauty failed to do that somehow.
"Kal?"
He turned to look at her observing him through the warped crystal of her wine glass, "Yes, Karen?"
"Do you think we deserve happiness?"
"What do you mean?" he asked, wondering where this was coming from.
She didn't say anything for a few seconds, swirling the wine round and round in her glass.
"I'm a successful woman Kal. I run a Fortune 500 company and I have more money than I'll ever need. I'm Power Girl and I help people around the world giving them my time willingly. I do satisfying work, Kal, charity work that benefits millions, technology advancements that will help billions." She looked at him earnestly, with an almost pleading look in her eyes. "But then why do I feel so empty? So alone?"
He saw her try to explain herself further, trying to make him understand, and he saw that she was trusting him with her deepest, most private thoughts. He intercepted her explanation and replied with a husky voice, "I know exactly what you mean, Karen."
He looked down at his glass and placed it on the coffee table in front of him and clasped his hands. "When Ma and Pa died... a eleven years, two months, and three days ago, I thought my world had ended. There was nothing on Earth for me anymore. I had no friends, no family, I... I felt so alone, so isolated from everything. I began preparing to leave the planet in search of a new home, maybe Daxam, maybe Illora, or even Almerac, of course, I didn't know about Maxima back then," he chuckled wryly.
Karen laughed and smiled at him, encouraging him to continue.
"Two days before my planned departure, I had to deal with an earthquake in Indonesia. It was bad, worse than anything I'd ever seen. It was instant and there was almost nothing I could do for those people as I watched millions of lives extinguished in an instant, just like that," he snapped his fingers. "Out of the few hundreds I managed to save was a 2 year old girl named Nabilah. She was the only survivor of a 7000 strong village. She... She'd survived because her parents had sealed her inside an empty waterproof aid package and had thrown her into the river just as a landslide buried the village. They'd written her name on a torn scrap of paper and they'd put in the their child's hands." Clark paused.
"They'd trusted, blindly, hopefully, that Superman would find their child. I... Two people that I had never known, had never met, trusted me with the most precious thing in their lives," he stopped, his eyes glistening with tears.
Karen understood what it had reminded him of. His own birth parents trusted him to unknown strangers on another planet, saving his life even as theirs had ended. She moved closer to him and gave him a warm one armed hug. "They knew what a good man you are."
Clark smiled at her gratefully, and continued his story, he could tell that Karen needed this. She was in the same place now that he'd been in all those years ago.
"I brought her to the US and found her a home, a loving young couple who opened their hearts and home to Nabilah. She's doing her middle school now and she's the bravest young girl I know. They named me her godfather," he smiled. "She was the reason I stayed back, I mean... I was still alone, I hadn't found anyone to spend my life with, but I realized that my purpose was enough. But, as it turned out, I did end up finding close family and friends over the years. Bruce, Diana, Kara, J'onn,... a certain young, short-haired, blonde bombshell whose name I seem to have forgetten."
He screwed up his eyebrows in mock concentration, teasing Karen, and she elbowed him playfully. "Oh you forgot me, did you?" She grabbed his forearms and tried to wrestle him into the cushions, "A certain short haired, blonde demands that Superman apologise, immediately."
"You can't best Superman. Why, I hear he's the strongest man in many galaxies!" he exclaimed with mock outrage, allowing her to pin him down on his back, flat on the couch.
She straddled him and drew her face close to his. She whispered softly, millimeters away from his lips, "That's very good news then."
"How so?" he whispered back.
She moved to his ear as if telling him a secret, "You see, I just so happen to be the strongest woman in many galaxies. I think I'd be more than his match, I'd be an equal."
He gazed into her sapphire blue eyes as she drew back her face, hovering just above him, her quickened breathing caressing his lips. Her soft blonde hair framed her angelic beauty as she looked at him with a hint of mirth and an emotion that he didn't want to consider deeply just yet.
"You know, I just have this feeling. But I think Superman believes so too," he said softly.
She read between the lines of his admission and it warmed her deeply. She sighed contentedly and settled down comfortably on top of him, stretching her legs out and resting her head on his shoulder. They were both tall, Clark pushing 6'4" while Karen herself was just shy of 6'1", but her large couch comfortably held them. Clark made himself comfortable and brought one hand to rest on her upper back, feeling the taut skin between her shoulders. He slowly massaged her back. "You're body feels worked up, Karen."
"Yeah," she sleepily murmured against his shoulder, "It's been a long week, Kal."
She saw that he was still in his armor and brought her fingertips to his crest. She programmed the nano suit to detract, and it dissolved and returned to the communicator he wore on his wrist. She lazily caressed the hard planes of his body, enjoying the feeling of her exposed skin against his. He'd been wearing only a pair of snug boxer shorts underneath his suit. Kal closed his eyes, content, as he felt her unconsciously drawing patterns on his chest. He enjoyed the feel of her soft body against his. They were both practically naked and he could feel her firm curves press into him and her thighs laid innocently over his. And while he did feel the undeniable stirrings of lust, he mainly felt a deeper connection, a sense of bone-deep satisfaction that stunned him and left him breathless. She was the one he'd been waiting for, his heart, mind, and body seemed to say. His heart warmed as he realized what she'd been tracing on his chest, unknowingly reflecting her inner thoughts. It was an ancient Kryptonian glyph.
"Karen?"
She opened her eyes and looked at him without lifting her head from his chest. She was way too comfortable to move. "Yeah, Kal?"
"In this moment? With you? I feel like I finally belong too."
He kissed her hair sweetly and closed his eyes. 'It had been a beautiful day.'
Karen's smile grew wider at his words and she snuggled deeper into his arms, closing her eyes. 'It'd been a beautiful day.'
