Author's Note: Gasp! Can it be? I ACTUALLY started posting things again? Anyways, this poem was for my creative writing class. I had to do a poem on love and loss. So, I figured the graduation dance would be a nice example…and also I couldn't thing of anything else (^-^;) Oh well, enjoy Rinoa's POV of the dance.

Waltz for the Moon By: Lady Ava

I stared up at the midnight sky,

Thinking how I rather be finding love.

My heart skipped a fragile beat,

As a shooting star shot high above.

That is when I saw you,

Gaze locked upon the sky.

As I smiled at you,

I knew that you were shy.

I strolled up to you,

Knowing I had a slim chance.

But I only smiled broadly,

And asked you to dance.

You stuttered on your words,

Trying to answer your best.

I grabbed your hand tightly,

And said, 'I know you mean yes'.

The waltz started to play,

As we stopped upon the floor.

But you seemed to have no idea,

For what was to be in store.

You said you couldn't dance,

That was something I did not buy.

I told you, 'How would you know,

When you've never even tired?'

You tripped on your feet,

And ran into others and me.

But I just smiled at you calmly,

Cause I wouldn't let you leave.

Finally, you understood,

As the dance became one.

You spun me around with ease,

You even admitted it was fun.

You pulled me into your arms,

While fireworks lit the sky.

And for the first time I saw them,

Your gorgeous ice blue eyes.

I glanced over your shoulder,

As you kept your gaze on me.

Suddenly, I saw him staring,

The one who I'd been sent to see.

I said I had to leave,

As I turned away to go.

You tried to ask me why,

But I said you could not know.

Walking away that night,

A mistake on my part indeed.

All I wanted then and there,

Was to have your eyes on me.

As I went to start my work,

A voice echoed through my brain.

'You stupid girl, you idiot,

You didn't even get his name.'

Turning back to see you,

In hopes of making things right.

My heart suddenly shattered,

For you were nowhere in sight.

Walking away slowly,

I knew I had work to do.

But every moment of that night,

I wanted to find you…

Find you and say…

Thanks for the dance…
