Arthur Kirkland sighed, leaning back in his comfortable rocking chair that sat on the porch in front of his home, drinking his morning tea.
The cool morning breeze blew gently through his sandy blonde locks, sending chills through his body as he lazily watched the sun rise in the distant fall sky.
He adjusted the quilt that was slipping off of his legs and shifted in his seat letting out another discontented sigh.
Today would be rough as was most days for him. Probably rougher than usual seeing as he had to get a new assignment as well as meet his new team. An international team of specially trained detectives.
He breathed in the scent of his comforting earl grey tea deeply. Ah the troubles of being a highly coveted private investigator. Well, detective now. After solving yet another case that the England police had failed to take care of, the chief at the police station in London begged him to take a job there as head detective.
When he had finally accepted the job the press had gone wild, crowding him in the streets asking why England's greatest detective would joint himself with the police. Arthur had of course ignored every single one of them, as would any English gentleman who didn't want to be bothered with seeing himself all over the TV.
But of course his piece was short lived when he nailed a serial killer in less than a week.
And then another two weeks later.
And, oh how his boss loved to brag. It annoyed Arthur to no end. According to him, any halfwit could have done it had he had the brains to look right in front of them.
Green eyes scanned the perimeter of the garden. His assistant should be here any moment now.
Alice was a kind young girl and a hard worker. She had been Arthur's assistant since he started his private detective business five years ago. The only problem with Alice was that she could be a bit scatterbrained sometimes.
Arthur was jolted out of his thoughts when the gate was slammed open and said assistant came running down the path, her long blonde hair trailing behind her gracefully. Arthur stood up and sat his tea cup down fixing his shirt, as Alice came up to him panting and red faced.
"Mr. Kirkland," She began only to stop once more to catch her breath, bending over to place her hands above her knees to support herself. "We need to go," she gasped shooting upright, flinging her hair, "I made a terrible mistake in your plans, we were supposed to be at the station 10 minutes ago!"
Yes, today would be a rough day indeed.
AN: Okay then, this is just the first chapter kind of like a test thingy, so hit me up and tell me if you liked it or hated it! Flames are welcome here. This will be sorta UsUk but I'm not sure yet it might end up being World/Uk. Who knows I might change it.
