He remembers one time, after yet another case with the team ragging on his apparent inferior skills; Nell asked how it didn't bother him. He had played it off with a charming smile and a redirect into his adventures in LAPD training. Later, though, as he drove to Kensi's with a pizza and six-pack of beer in the backseat, he grinned. It didn't bother him because there mocking was a safety net he'd built around himself. So long as they kept belittling his undercover work, there was no doubt in his mind that he was fooling them. They underestimated him; and that was their mistake.
Super short first chapter because I wanted it posted before the airing of tonight's episode. :) The next update may be a week or so (with Thanksgiving Break I should get some work done!), and we'll see where it goes (because even I'm not 100% sure where this will lead ;) ).
