Quick, short, and not all that great. I just needed to get my writing juices flowing, since October is UPDATE MONTH! :D Enjoy!
Demyx stood on the wooden platform, hands bound tightly behind his back, and glared at the sky. He didn't know why, but for some reason, the citizens of Port Royal believed that he was a notorious pirate called Captain Da Capo, and had beaten, captured, and sentenced to death by hanging the blond Nobody. With his hands bound, he couldn't summon a portal, and, he was too weak to do so anyways, knew that it was useless to struggle. Resigning himself to his fate, he paid a little attention to the officer, while replaying memories in his head.
"-Da Capo, be it known that you have-"
Who was this 'Da Capo' guy, anyway?
"-for your willful commission of crimes against the crown. Said crimes being numerous in quantity and sinister in nature, the most egregious of these to be cited herewith: piracy, smuggling-"
Demyx grinned to himself as he remembered smuggling Larxene's chocolates with Roxas at the Castle-
"-sailing under false colours, arson, kidnapping, looting, poaching, brigandage-"
What did that mean?
"-pilfering, depravity, depredation, sarcasm, and general lawlessness. And for these crimes, you have been sentenced to be, on this day, hung by the neck until dead. May God have mercy on your soul." The man began rolling up his parchment scroll, and Demyx heard the drumming speed up.
"Wait, what? I told you, I'm not this Da Cap guy! And what if I don't believe in God, huh?"
"Silence!" Demyx glared at the little man as the executioner wrapped a noose around his neck (which, Demyx noted with a groan, was wreathed in Darkness), and took in a last breath when he saw it: a shining, pale thing speeding towards him, and as it did, he felt more and more pain in the hole in his chest.
Bracing himself for impact, Demyx closed his eyes, but opened them when the light bumped against his chest.
It was his heart.
Kingdom Hearts must have been completed, huh, thought Demyx, and watched with fascination as his heart entered his body.
A searing, painful, and wondrously jubilant feeling coursed through him, and he gasped and smiled a genuine smile as he regained his heart. He felt odd changes in his body, such as his pulse starting again and his powers slipping away, and beamed as the executioner yanked on the lever.
The trapdoor beneath his feet gave way as his neck snapped from the jolt.
What?
Demyx hung, suspended, and glared through lifeless eyes at the crowd. They cheered, loudly, and then Demyx's body was unceremoniously cut down and tossed into the ocean, meters below.
He watched with Nobody eyes as his heart left his body once more, wreathed in the festering Darkness from the rope, and reached desperately for it, grabbing and attempting to swim (his bonds had been cut, but he was still weak), but watched in horror as a shark rushed by and swallowed his heart whole.
The blond stared after the swimming shark in disbelief, and let out a long scream.
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Demyx awoke with a start, soaked in sweat and twisted up in the blankets of his bed, and panted lightly as he slowly got up, staring at his surroundings. He was still in his room, still in the Castle, and still with no heart.
On an impulse, he reached up to his neck and felt it; he froze.
Around his throat were rope-burns, and his neck felt weird.
Was that... real?
He fainted.
A/N: Don't ask me, please: I don't know if it was real either, and I'm the one who wrote it!
Oh, and heads up, guys: lots of new series, oneshots, and updates are coming up this month! Stay Tuned!
