This is a Soulshipping (Yubel/Judai) fic which takes place within a small dream of Judai's. Despite it being VERY sappy, I hope you enjoy it.

Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh GX.

I took a small breath in. It was fresh, pure, light. It tasted like the sea; it was salty, but in a graceful way.

I was laying on my back. I felt cloth wrap around my torso and it falling onto my legs, as well as sand sneaking into a pair of boots. As the wind blew, I could tell my hair was shorter; my ears were exposed.

That's when I decided to look up.

The sky amazed me. I could see nothing but the sunset; reds and oranges and pinks and lavenders, dancing in a mortal dance of color.

I felt a hand within my own. "Isn't it beautiful?"

A girl with dark blue hair and sea-green stared at me lovingly. Smiling, she reached out to stroke my face.

And she was gone.

I was suddenly in pain. My whole body felt like it was breaking down. I groaned in agony, and quickly shut my eyes, unable to bear it.

Something small and wet hit my face. Someone was holding me, shaking my whole body as they sobbed.

I opened my eyes again, with difficulty.

There was the girl... Though she wasn't a girl anymore.

Dark wings arched on the back of her body. Her skin was a sickly pink. Her eyes were the color of the sea and the setting sun.

She look at me with sad, tear-filled eyes. "Why..?" She muttered to me. "Why did you do that?"

Then I spoke.

"Because you've been in so much pain." My voice croaked. "You've already done so much for me."

She shook her head. "I can't be destroyed. I would have felt pain, but I would have lived."

"In agony," I replied sadly. I then smiled at her. It was hard, in the face of death, but I did it anyway. "I will die, but I will come back." I spoke. "My duty will allow me to come back time and time again. In my next life, and those after that, I will love you."

My body began shutting down. With the last of my strength, I reached out for her cheek. As a placed my hand on her skin, I felt her tears run down my arm.

"Wait for me."

And the last thing I smelled was salt, as light and as fresh as the sea.
