So, this is my first story. It's just a one-shot. Please review and tell me what you think.

Attending his best friend's funeral at the age of seventeen wasn't something that Kendall Knight ever thought he would do. But here he is, sitting amongst family and friends, all with matching expressions of loss and sadness painted on their faces.

The man standing in front of him begins to speak, "Kendall, I believe you have something you would like to say."

Kendall nods, rising from his seat. His two remaining friends look at him in shock. They didn't know that he was going to speak. He takes a deep breath before turning to face the crowd.

"We are all here today for one reason. To say goodbye to someone who was, quite possibly, the most amazing person that any of us have ever met. I know I have never met anyone quite like James and I doubt I ever will. Most people only saw one side of James, the self-absorbed pretty boy who didn't worry about anything other than his hair and whether his shoes matched his belt. But he was so much more than a pretty face."

Kendall looks out at everybody who has gathered to say goodbye. Not a single person has dry eyes, even Gustavo is crying silently. He isn't ashamed to admit that he is crying too, he lets the tears run down his cheeks, not even bothering to wipe them away. He swallows and continues talking.

"He was a fiercely loyal friend; always willing to help out, to listen or talk or to provide comfort by just being there. He was honest and selfless. When he made a promise he would do his absolute best to keep it. He didn't need to be told that something was wrong, he just knew. It was almost as if he could read minds, he understood his friends and family that well. James would go out of his way to make someone smile or laugh. He hated the thought of anyone hurting or being sad. He was a genuinely good person. I'm not saying that James was perfect, because he wasn't. He was only human and he made mistakes, just like everyone else. He wasn't the world's nicest person. He could be rude and annoying at times. And yeah, we did fight over stupid things. We argued like little kids and it was infuriating. But I wouldn't change a thing."

Kendall walks towards the mahogany coffin that holds his friends body and lays his hand on it.

"James was my best friend, my brother. He didn't deserve to die, especially not so young. Not when everything was finally starting to work out right for him. Instead of finally living out his dream he lived out his last moments lying on the cold hard road after being hit by a bus. Nobody could have predicted that the driver would drink several beers and then get behind the wheel. Nobody could have predicted that James would cross the road at the exact same time the driver lost control. But I can predict this. James will never be forgotten. I don't think any of us are even capable of forgetting him. He lives on, in our hearts and our memories. It's the little things that he did that we will miss most, like the way he would constantly flip his hair out of his eyes, or the little scream he gave every time you mentioned shaving his head. As long as we have those memories to make us smile when we're sad, he will never truly be gone."

Kendall looks down at his hand resting on the coffin and, for the first time since James died, he smiles.
