I don't own Being Human. Biiig shocker there. Don't kill me, people, I've never written for them before.

Faint creak of motion.
Eyes, flicking open, scan the room.
Safe?
Safe.
Eyes flicking closed again, settling back into the warmth and half-dark of light sleep, unneeded sigh escaping.
Another creak- louder, closer.
Danger?
Eyes immediately opening, body tensing, thoughts immediately going bad as fear temporarily explodes in stomach-
Upright, out of bed, padding to the door and wrenching it open.
Josh!-
Is standing there on the stairs, looking guilty.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to wake you up-"
Smile, a bit forced.
"Nah, it's nothing. Not a problem."
Josh looks guilty, gnawing on his lip, but nods faintly. "Right. Going now. To bed."
Nod, feeling a bit puzzled, and turn to move. Pause.
"Hey…Why were you up and about, anyway?"
Josh immediately looks trapped. "I…I…"
Looking carefully at him, wondering. "Josh?"
Panic setting in Josh's eyes. "It's nothing- Really n-nothing at all-"
Unimpressed face. "Josh."
Shame now in Josh's eyes, panic dying down. "I was just checking around the house. You know. Just in case."
Relax. "Oh. Thank you, then."
Startled expression in his eyes. "I- uh- sure." His shame is worsening, he can see it in his face. What to do.
"What's wrong?"
Pure terror now. "Nothing!" Stumbling backwards. Toward the stairs- NO.
Grab him.
Reaching out, pulling him away from the stairs as pure terror- Sally died that way, after all- curls over his face, and pulling him closer. The thud of blood in his neck. Shudder, pull closer and then away.
Settling in the mind, paying attention to the terror in Josh's face. "Josh."
"I…" shame, dropping his head, "Just…I just haven't felt safe, lately, and it's killing me. Alright?"
Brow furrows. "Haven't felt safe?"
Skittishly pulls away. "No. I haven't felt safe. Something's been out there, been watching, Aiden, and I can't do anything about it right now- the moon's new, I'm at my weakest, I can't do anything-"
"Lies."
A sigh. "Truth."
Sighing heavily. "We'll be fine. No one's going to come in without an invitation."
Josh nodding faintly, looking down.
A hesitation – don't you DARE regret this in the morning you monster - then, "Do you want to stay with me tonight?"
A nervous stare, gnawing on a lip, then a very faint nod.
Smile. "Come on in."
"Says the spider to the fly," Josh mutters, but follows.

Settle back down in warmth. Eyes closed. Body relaxing.
Mattress shifts, readjusts, and steadies.
"Josh."
"Sorry…"
"Actually, I was just going to say good night."
"…Oh. Good night."
Silence.
Mattress shifts once more, readjusting again and steadies.
"Aiden?"
"Mm?"
Not opening eyes. Oh no. Too tired, too sore, no intentions of doing so.
"I'm sorry."
Eyes open. "What?"
"I'm sorry? You know, for invading your bed?"
Unneeded sigh of relief. "Oh. Oh. It's not a problem…just…sleep? Please?"
"Right."
The faint thump of blood in his ears, slowly, oh so slowly calming, slowing, steadying. A faint smile, then-
Warmth. Body curled up close, eyes sad and tired and closing as the body stiffens in surprise and slowly relaxes.
Better.
The night is still.

Yeah… Don't know where this came from. It's an experimental style, too, so we'll see how this goes.
Reviews are love.
