FanFiction Idea – Crossover between BSG, Dollhouse and Dark Angel
Authors Note: Hi everyone. Just a short teaser / oneshot here. I don't yet know whether I'm going to come back to this and actually turn it into a story. It is basically an idea on how to plausibly crossover BSG / Dark Angel / Dollhouse, although the BSG bit will just play into the structure of the storyline and will have very little / nothing to do with the actual characters / events.

One hundred and fifty thousand years ago, a fleet of humans had arrived at this planet and called it Earth. These people, Colonials they called themselves, had fled a cycle of violence that had repeated itself throughout their history, resulting in the destruction of their homes and their migration across the galaxy. This cycle of violence had repeated itself numerous times throughout their history and the history of their ancestors: the unchecked and rampant use of technology results in the destruction of entire civilisations and planets. In the history that these people had known of, this pattern had repeated itself through the creation and rebellion of artificial life. It had happened to the Colonial's ancestors, the Lords of Kobol, it had happened to the Colonials, and it had happened to the Cylons of Earth, the real Earth: a world in another system that had been nuked to death by its own inhabitants.
Upon reaching this planet, the Colonials found an existing population of human beings, albeit, human beings that couldn't communicate and closer resembled monkeys than the Colonials. In an attempt to prevent the cycle of violence from repeating itself generations down the track, the Colonials abandoned their advanced technology and adopted an agricultural based lifestyle, eventually integrating with the local human population. It had been hoped that integration with the local population of human beings, ones that had been removed from the previous cycles of violence (as far as the Colonials knew) would somehow prevent the cycle from happening again.
The Colonials were only partially successful. The cycle began again, some one-hundred and fifty thousand years later in the early years of the 21st Century. However, this time, the cycle was vastly different, and depending on your viewpoint, much more deadly. This time, no one created artificial life. The people of Earth only managed to pervert life that existed on the planet – themselves. The system of the people of Earth allowed technological development in all areas to go unchecked. There were governments and safeguards in place. However, once a company became powerful, it could hide anything that it was doing from the governments and the safeguards that they enforced.
There were two main scientific fields that led to the creation of the two most powerful companies on Earth. These two fields were the manipulation of the human body, and manipulation of the human mind. Two companies led these fields respectively; Manticore – the worlds leading genetic engineering and research company; and Rossum – the worlds most powerful medical corporation which had made startling advancements into research of the human brain.
Each of these companies had made advancements well beyond what anyone had expected was possible and they had spent years playing and refining the impossible. Individually, the advancements that they made would not lead to the destruction of the human race. They could cause chaos and devastation, but not the extinction of the only sapient life form on the planet. It wasn't until the advancements made by both companies were combined almost resulted in the extinction of the human race.
This is the story of how that happened.
