"Tonight we gather to honour the 41 souls who gave their lives to save this town." Amanda said as she lead the townsfolk through the woods to the buried grounds. "They were our mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, brothers and sisters. But to us they were heroes."
The freshly made graves and white ribbons came into view, and Amanda spotted a group of children standing at the end of the cemetery with one of the town's music teachers and her husband who was holding a guitar. The teacher, and her husband nodded their heads in respect and turned back to the children. The teacher raised her hands up to get the scrambling children into position and ready for a special presentation.
Amanda smiled at the children's innocence and they ran around in circles before finally standing still, "We came together in a time of need and we stood up together to defeat an formidable foe. For the 41 souls that lay here, we must remember them and honour their sacrifices so that we can all live together here in peace."
The teacher moved her hands, signalling the children the beginning of their little concert and her husband started to play.
The sound of the guitar strings echoed loudly throughout the woods. The gathering of people stood and listened as a human child, up in front, stepped forward and began to sing;
This is the sound of one voice
One spirit, one voice
The sound of one who makes a choice
This is the sound of one voice
A castithan child walked forward beside the human child;
This is the sound of voices two
The sound of me singing with you
Helping each other to make it through
This is the sound of voices two
An irathient child came up on the other side of the human child.
This is the sound of voices three
Singing together in harmony
Surrendering to the mystery
This is the sound of voices three
Christie came up beside Alak, who was surprised by her presence but welcomed her by putting his arm around her shoulders. She glanced up at Shatma who gave the human girl a reassuring smile and Christie smiled back. Then the entire choir, children of all races joined together in the song of union;
This is the sound of all of us
Singing with love and the will to trust
Leave the rest behind it will turn to dust
This is the sound of all of us
Back to only the human child;
This is the sound of one voice
One people, one voice
A song for every one of us
This is the sound of one voice
This is the sound of one voice
Screen fades to black.
