Would Alec live through the night? Isabelle wasn't sure. She was never good at dealing with her emotions, and tonight was no exception. She was so terrified about Alec's condition, that she hadn't gone into his room yet. She didn't think she could handle seeing her big brother fighting for his life. He had always been the strong one. But she couldn't just not be with him. What if he really did die and she wasn't there for him? She'd never forgive herself. Sighing, she walked up to Alec's door and, without knocking, silently opened it to peek inside.
Alec was asleep on his bed. She sighed internally with relief. He was pale, but breathing. Her eyes flicked to the chair next to his bed. Magnus. The warlock who had rushed to her brother's aid when he was hurt. Magnus had healed him, saving his life.
Isabelle was just about to say something to get his attention, but Alec stirred. Magnus, who looked like he had been asleep himself, instantly jumped up. Alec groaned in his sleep, obviously in pain. Magnus reached out to his shaking hand and grabbed it.
"Alec?" Magnus asked, staring intently at the Shadowhunter. Isabelle held her breath.
All Alec could get out was another groan as he rolled over, squeezing Magnus' hand so tight that his knuckles were white.
"Shh," Magnus cooed, brushing a hand along Alec's face. He then placed his fingers over Alec's wound and pulsed some blue sparks into it.
He must be healing it some more, Isabelle thought.
She watched silently as her brother's eyes flicked opened, instantly locking onto the warlock.
"It's ok…you're ok." Magnus said quietly, petting Alec's head. Alec smiled slightly. The magic must have worked.
That, or Alec loved Magnus more than Isabelle had thought.
Before she got caught, Isabelle shut the door quietly and slinked back down the hallway, thinking to herself that she was the best match maker ever.
