Pairings- Beetee x Wiress
Beetee goes into the workshop of District Three and finds Wiress sitting in a chair at a desk, her face in her hands and her shoulders shaking slightly.
Carefully, knowing that this could very well be the aftermath of another nightmare, Beetee makes his way to Wiress and puts his hand on her shoulder, letting her know that he's there. She doesn't move away, but she doesn't move any closer to him, either.
"Wiress, please talk to me." Beetee whispers, placing two fingers underneath Wiress's chin, making her look at him. The pain and sadness in Wiress's eyes doesn't go unnoticed as Beetee pulls her into a tight hug.
Wiress buries her face in Beetee's chest and takes in the way his hands hold her tightly yet gently.
"It hurts." Wiress says softly.
"I know. The nightmares are one of the worst parts of it. But everything will be okay. You'll see." Beetee says, stroking her hair soothingly, trying to comfort her in some way.
"Bee.." she says, getting his attention.
"Yeah, Wire?"
"Do you have the nightmares, too?"
Beetee nods. "Every victor does."
"How often?"
"Are mine?" Wiress nods. "Almost every night."
"I just feel sorry for the ones that died.."
"Exactly, and that's normal. But remember that for the victors like us, we survived out of self-defense."
"Always will be survivors."
"Because we have to deal with the aftermath. Always will."
Wiress looks up at Beetee and smiles faintly. She knew that she would be able to trust him the moment they met three years ago. Over this time, they had undoubtedly grown close enough to practically read each other's minds, but what Beetee didn't know yet was that Wiress had developed feelings for him; not that she was going to admit it anytime soon.
"Looks like the Wiress I know is showing up again." Beetee says softly, causing Wiress to smile widely. "I told you everything would be okay."
"I love you." Wiress whispers just loud enough for Beetee to hear.
"Wire.."
"It's true." Beetee opens his mouth to say more, but Wiress talks before he does. "Sorry. Should have waited."
"It's okay." And for the first time in a few months, Beetee smiles a real smile that reassures both Beetee and Wiress that everything is genuinely going to be alright, no matter what is happening at the moment.
