Chapter One
The reason why they hate you….
It was almost twenty years ago to the day-
There was a… girl, and this girl, well, she was different.
She was like you.
Naruto.
Like you, she never asked for all those terrible and horrific things to happen, they just seemed to- happen.
She was like you, and she is the reason why they hate you.

Konoha, the city hidden in the leaves, the city in the heart of the Land of Fire, has seen and felt the destruction of war and her people were now just recovering, but another war was on the horizon.
A Demon War.

Downtown still had fallen and crushed buildings jutting out of the hard earth they once rested upon. Naruto sighed to himself. 'Why must we always fight', he thought. 'It brings nothing but pain and suffering.'
Naruto had finished training for the day and decided to go for a walk around the village. He didn't want to return to his tiny confined apartment just yet.
He passes a construction site that was halted due to poor financial support. The city had no money left to rebuild the desecrated center. ANBU were working three times as much, and just barely covering the substantial needs like food and water for the village. Trading was not doing too well either, the caravans and trains are picked clean by robbers long before they reach the borders.
There was also talk of allowing refuges of other obliterated villages, towns, and cities to move into Konoha to help with population and construction. Some refuges were already here, waiting in the hotels for their papers to be finalized and cleared.
Naruto finally reached the Raman Shop. It was eerily empty. All of its usual customers out working, protecting… killing. Naruto shook the thought of his friends and sensei killing innocent people just to survive in a now corrupt Konoha.
He ponders the last statement as he walks to a stool on the counter.
It was quiet. The only thing breaking the silence was the faint clink and clank of the chief cooking.
He orders the usual, but feels most unusual. Something strange was in the air.
It smelled like well water and burned roses.
It smelled like….
