She woke with a start.
Her mind was racing.
Thoughts of the previous night were spinning round her mind.
What had she done? How could she do it? What would this mean? Too many questions were building up in her head and for the first time in her life she didn't know the answers to them. Also for the first time ever she didn't want to answer them.
Last night she had been herself, she had let go and had some fun. She couldn't remember the last time she had done that, let alone with someone watching her. But with him it was different, with him she could do anything and he wouldn't judge her. He wouldn't stop her. He wouldn't leave her like the others. With him she felt safe, like it was okay to trust again and this time she wouldn't get hurt.
She turned to the man asleep in her bed and smiled. For the first time in a while she was truly happy. She didn't feel the urge to run like she had so many times before. With this man beside her all she wanted to do was snuggle back in his arms and forget about everything else in the world. Forget about the paperwork she had to finish, forget about the limbo cases that were still waiting to be solved and just exist. Without worrying about work and commitments she could just spend the whole day wrapped in her duvet with his strong arms to keep her safe and finally be happy.
And that's what she did; she lay back down and rested her head in the crook of his neck. The man wrapped his arms tightly around her and looked down at her with a loving gaze.
"What were you just thinking about beautiful?"
"That this is this first time in so long I've been really happy"
"Me too Bones, me too"
"Booth"
"Yeah Bones?"
"Thanks"
"You're welcome"
With that the newly formed couple drifted off into a blissfully happy sleep with there arm securely wrapped around the other.
