I didn't know where we were going, or why. All I knew, was it was cold, and I wanted to go home. And I wanted my daddy. I didn't understand where he had gone. He just vanished one day, and everyone got sad. And then, here I was, being half dragged by Cathy threw some woods really late at night.

I tripped over a root, and Cathy handed the case she was carrying to Chris, and picked me up. I was grateful to be in my big sister's warm arms, and I snuggled closer to her. All around us, bats were flapping and owls were hooting. I was scared. Cory was still stumbling along the ground beside Cathy, and she let go of me with one of her arms to grab his hand. I clung on tightly. Cathy wasn't as big as momma or Chris, and I didn't want to fall. But momma and Chris both had their hands full of cases.

Shortly, everyone stopped. I think they all needed a break from walking so fast with heavy things, but I was glad anyway.

"We can't stop long." Momma said. "You're grandmother is expecting us. And we have to keep going whilst the twins are still awake enough to walk. You can let Carrie walk now, Cathy, and take one of the cases from Chris."

I whimpered slightly. I didn't want to walk. Chris saved me from having to, though.

"I can carry one of the twins as well as a case, momma. And I'm sure Cathy can too, right Cathy?"

"Sure. I can try." Cathy scooped up Cory, and he looked at me with his big round eyes. I knew he was as scared as me. Cathy and Chris seemed to know what was going on. But Cory and I, we were just cold and frightened, and wanted this walking to end.

Chris picked me up, and grabbed the case, handing Cathy the lighter one. Then we all carried on walking.

Soon enough, I saw a big house, looming up ahead. Bigger than any house I had ever seen! We went around the back of the towering grey walls, and momma reached out to knock sharply on the wooden door. Before she even touched it, it swung open, and a woman stood there. She wasn't pretty like momma or Cathy. She was scary. She took the cases off momma, who in turn, took the cases from Chris and Cathy. Cory and I were both put on the ground, and our hands were grabbed once again by Cathy and Chris. Then, we were led into the house.

To what future, I didn't know. But I prayed it would be a good one.
