It was so quiet.

Almost too quiet.

Organization members walked the halls as normal, quiet footsteps on a metallic silver tile, the sounding echoes of the shoes barely filling the void.

Everyone had forgotten about the loss of the beautiful Nocturne, the sandy, golden-haired blonde with the cerulean blue eyes who had been nothing less than the life of the entire castle.

And with the loss, an older Nobody sat in his room, refusing to cry.

No heart… he had no heart. There was no reason for him to cry over the loss over one of their own.

Even if the boy had looked up to him for everything…

Even if he had come to him on scary, dark nights when he had been tormented by a 'bad dream'…

And he had always been the one telling the younger members that he didn't care if someone was lost- they were gone and that was that.

However… the loss of Demyx was different for Xigbar.

It seemed that his nonexistent heart did not exist even more… if it was possible.

A chunk of the darkness was gone.

That chunk of beautiful, sweet darkness was the darkness that held anything he may have felt for his beautiful, sweet Demyx.

And now the poor boy was gone.

'Xiggy… I love you…'

'Xiggy, you'll be here when I get back, right?'

'I'll play my new song for you as soon as I come home!'

Surrendering to the overwhelming memories, salty beads of liquid slid down the elder Nobody's scarred cheeks…

The cheeks that the boy had kissed, even as ugly as they were- even if they were scarred and no longer silky and smooth like his own, he loved them as much as anything.

Xigbar doubled over to put his face in calloused, rough hands…

The hands that had been held by the younger's small ones as he leaned over to place a gentle kiss on the pink lips that had captured his so many times before…

As Xigbar let out a much-held back sob, he reflected on the silence, and the fact that the ringing of the Nocturne's beautiful music was to never grace the halls again.
