Chapter Title: Chance Meeting

Disclaimer: I own nothing. I just write, and hope Kishi-sama finally gets Naruto and Sakura together... ::sigh:: May time fly between now and the end of the fillers. So mote it be.
Shoving through the crowd blocking her way, Sakura sighed in relief as she entered her haven away from home. She smiled at the school librarian and settled in her regular place at a corner table conveniently placed near the fiction section where she proceeded to pull out a large book and settled in to wait until the warning bell rang for first period.
"Hey, Sakura!"
The pink haired girl looked up to see her friend Ino waving at her as she approached. "So, have you heard yet?"
"Heard what?" Obviously not.
"You've got a tutoring job!"
Sakura blinked at the blonde girl for a moment before remembering the sign-up sheet that she had filled out just last week. Was it only last week? She thought. Then, "Wait, wait, what?"
"You. Are. A. Tutor." The blonde girl accentuated each word separately. "Apparently one of the new kids who recently moved in needs a lot of help, and since you're one of the few who's good at everything, they stuck you with him. You'll get paid, but still… good luck."
All business, Sakura asked, "Have you seen him? Do you know who he is?"
Ino shook her head. "You'll have to talk to Iruka-sensei. He'll give you all the details and help you set up the initial meeting so you can meet the new kid.
Sakura nodded and glanced at the clock. "Alright, I'll talk to him during lunch. Thanks for letting me…" Suddenly a crash behind Ino cut off her sentence as both girls turned to see a young student hurriedly picking up the papers that had flown out of his backpack as it ripped.
Jumping to her feet, Sakura was at his side in a flash, helping him gather all his papers. "Here, let me help."
"Thanks," he said, standing as he took hold of her wrist and pulled her to her feet before taking the last few papers from her hand. She studied his face for a moment as he grinned at her, blue eyes shinning.
Suddenly the warning bell went off and Sakura's trance was broken. She smiled at the boy and said, "Good luck," and returned to gather her own things before heading off to her first class of the day.
"See you later!" Ino waved as she turned to go in the opposite direction.
Sakura nodded and turned towards her class, but the pair of cerulean blue eyes remained on her mind for the remainder of the day.
"Iruka-sensei! I'm here!" Sakura called as she opened the doorway to the math teacher's room.
The young teacher looked up and smiled at his former student. "Welcome, you've come at just the right time. Sakura, this is Naruto, the student you'll be tutoring. Naruto, this is Sakura, who I was telling you about."
Iruka moved to let Naruto and Sakura see each other, and Sakura nearly dropped her books in surprise.
