Chapter 1 – Last of the Summer Nights

A white cat prowled the gardens of number 4, Privet Drive as a young girl with flaming red

hair sat on her bedroom window, in search of a breeze. Her resilient bottle green eyes had shown

through the unbearable heat as they softly rested upon her snow white cat. Although she was

quite tired her sister's snores immediately pulled her away under the sheets of her bed. Lily Evans

was now at her 7th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Her sister who she loathed

went to a horrible muggle school called Smeltings, where she supposedly met the love of her life

Vernon Dursley. They have now been dating 2 years and according to Petunia, he will be asking

her to marry. Lily was not one to keep grudges let alone loath people, but she had made an

exception for Petunia who constantly called her a freak for her . . . academic achievements. Lily

lied awake in bed trying as hard as she could to fall asleep in case her sister awoke and saw her up

past her bed time. If she saw Lily she surely would make a federal case out of it, waking the whole

house for the mischief being caused when there was none to be found. But the problem was

there was no way Lily could fall asleep through her excitement. This would be her last and final

year at Hogwarts, which now was like her second home. She was quite popular at Hogwarts and

was always a perfectionist in classes which led to deem her as Head Girl. She was not looking

forward to the fact that it was her last year no, she just wanted to know who was Head boy this

year. Her nervousness deprived her of sleep the rest of the night thinking of her duties as Head Girl

and how she would have to deal with not only those duties but N.E.W.T.S at the end of the year.

Just 2 towns away 2 17 year old boys were laughing at their attempts to beat the crap out

of each other. Sirius Black leapt off the bed and tackled the young, handsome James Potter to

the floor, claiming victory until James stuck a lap shade on his head. The 2 laughed perpetually

until a yell from James' parents shut them up.

"Man we really out did ourselves Padfoot." James chuckled.

"Yes Mr. Prongs, I must say getting all this mess up will be a bit of a bitch."

He said as gentlemen like as possible.

James replied with mock fear, "Bitch?! Lily? Where?!"

Sirius laughed, "Aw c'mon Jamesy dear, this is your year with her. She's bound to fall for

your charm." Sirius said flashed his eyelashes sweetly as James caught the sarcasm.

"I wish Lily would see that we were really meant to be . . ." James said mournfully as he

picked up some of the clothes lying on the floor.

"Ok then Robert Frost, why don't we fix that?"
