I ran, not sure where I was going. I looked over my shoulder to see something in the shadows. I didn't know what it was; its face was shrouded with darkness. I continued running, but it caught me and whispered the words,
"Lyra, Lyra, Lyra wake up."
"Huh?" I said as I looked up to find my meister, Hiro, lightly shaking me as I awoke.
I got up, ate breakfast, brushed my teeth, got dressed, and left for school.
When I got there, I saw my friends, Maka, Soul, Black*star, Tsubaki, Death the Kid (Kid for short), Liz, and her sister Patty.
"Oh,hey Lyra!" Maka said, enthusiastic as usual.
"Sup?" Soul said.
"Yahoo! Hey!" Black*star said.
"Good morning, Lyra!" Tsubaki said happily.
"Hey!" Patty yelled spastically.
"What's up?" Liz asked.
"Hello." Kid said.
"Hey guys, I'd love to stay and chat, but Professor Stein will probably dissect us if we don't get to class on time." I replied to all of them, which caused our entire group to start sprinting toward the white-haired man's classroom.
We got to class 10 seconds early and earned a "You are so lucky 'cuz I would've dissected you if you got here any later than that" look from the professor.
"Ok, everybody take your seats so we can start today's dissection." Stein said which earned a loud and long groan from the class (which he ignored as usual).
"Today, we'll be dissecting a dodo bird!" Stein said with the enthusiasm that he gets when talking about dissection.
"What! How the heck did you even get one of those! They're supposed to be extinct! You should set it free so they can repopulate, not rip it open and take out its guts!" I shouted as I stood up and looked over to my friends who gladly supported me.
"She's right, Stein. I'm no cop, but I'm pretty sure that dissecting something that's supposed to be dead is illegal." Soul said calmly which earned several "yeah!"s and "He's right!"s from the people in the classroom.
"If you do this, we'll report it to Lord Death. He's one of the very few sane people around here!" Maka said with a look of enthusiasm and anger in her eyes.
"You children ruin my passion, but fine, we won't dissect it." Stein said sadly which got tons of cheers in response.
After the incident in Stein's class, the rest of the day was normal and after the final bell rang, Hiro and I were about to leave the building when we heard a familiar voice calling our names.
"Hiro, Lyra! Wait up!" Tsubaki said while running to catch up with us.
"Hey Tsubaki, what's up?" I questioned to the panting girl in front of me.
"Were all having a sleep-over at Soul and Maka's house tonight at eight, and Maka wanted me to find and invite you two." She stated, still panting.
"Oh, alright well, we'll be there at eight then." I said, not knowing that this was an invitation to another form of hell… truth or dare!
