AN: I haven't written in forever! I also haven't written characters from a TV show in forever. I am trying to get back into writing and am trying my hand at flash fiction. I heard this song on shuffle (Trading Yesterday - She is the sunlight) and it instantly made me think of Stefan/Caroline. So please enjoy this really short drabble.

Cause she is the healing / And I am the pain

It had been eight years. Eight whole years and in them, time had passed in a blur of hearts breaking, hearts healing, too many deaths, too many losses. In all of the anger, the hurt and the pain - all of the warmth, happiness and the joy. Eight years of trying to find themselves and through it all, finally, they had found each other. It was now, more than ever, he knew. Knew she was the one he had been waiting for. Over two hundred years of living with sorrow and regret, hating life and hanging onto the only thing he was living for. With Damon gone, he had been losing hope. But, the one thing that seemed to remain, the only thing that kept him from losing himself was the famous words of this eccentric careless, bubbly blonde standing in front of him; 'maybe tomorrow will be better'.

Looking at her now, as she moves effortlessly around the small space, working hard to remove the blood stain from her favourite blouse, he is sure. Tomorrow will be better. Any day that follows with her by his side will surely be better.

As if, on cue, she knew he was trying to figure something out, her eyes caught his. "What are you thinking about?" She mused.

"You." He said simply. The pink lips upturned into a sly smile lighting her face as she drew back her head.

She sighed, slinging the blouse over the back of the chair and turning to face him. Hands on her hips, so elegantly Caroline Forbes, she wiggled her brows. "You. Think. Too. Much."

Warmth crept over him as the last pool of sunlight from the open windows glistened into the foyer. Then in a flash, she was in front of him; her hands behind his neck, pulling him closer. He breathed in the smell of her and instantly relaxed his shoulders. Leaning in, he kissed her softly, longingly; with all the love he was carrying.

"I know." He mumbled against her lips as he pulled back a little. Her blue eyes sparkled like the clear ocean. He couldn't help but grin back, before pushing himself into her a little. Her lips smashed against his. Hands travelling down his arms, her lips broke away from his and moved up his neck towards his ear.

Her voice was a whisper in the autumn air as the last shimmer of light danced along the floor boards.

"Let me distract you for a little while..."
