Chapter 1 - Katniss POV
"Prim, have you seen my all black converse?" I yelled down the stairs as I was attempting to get ready for the first day of school – keyword attempt.
"No. Try looking in your closet." Said Prim. My little sister was very smart as only being 12 and starting the 8th grade.
"Thank you." How could I not have thought of that? , I wondered as I laced up my favorite shoes.
I looked at the time, 7: 30. I still have 10 more minutes. I got up and looked in the mirror. As I put in my regular braid, I looked at the rest of my outfit choices. My shirt was one of the very few that I got over the summer. It was the exact same grey as my eyes, and fitted to my curves just right. My pants are dark wash skinnies, along with my shoes that I wear ALL the time. I looked at my make-up. Just regular old mascara and lip gloss.
I went downstairs and grabbed an apple. Then I went to the computer. As I went on to , I wondered what school is going to be like. I looked in my subscriptions and I saw that Shane Dawson had a new video. I clicked on the one that was labeled 'SCHOOL DANCE DISASTER!' and laughed my head off! At the end of the video I realized we are late. I grabbed Prim and speed off to school. As I went to get my late slip, I noticed a boy with blonde hair and blue eyes. Must be new, I thought. I turned to put the slip in the box and I tripped over his back pack.
"AHHH!" I screamed as I went down with a loud thud.
"Are you okay?" He asked when he was done helping me up.
"I think so." I say.
"I'm Peeta." He says with a mesmerizing smile that matches his eyes witch are filled with happiness and a bit of nervousness that he hides pretty well.
"I-I'm K-Katniss-s…"I stutter. Damn it, I thought, He probably thinks I'm stupid. We are quiet for a second.
"And I have to go." I say as smoothly as I could. Something about this kid has shaken me to my core.I don't know what it was, but no one, and I mean NO ONE, has done that before.
As I head to Mr. Abernathy's class, I take my seat next to Madge.
"What happened?" She asked. Right as Peeta walks in. I wave at him with a shy smile.
"Oh, I know what happened." She says with a smug smile on her face. I can tell what she is thinking right now. Finally! Katniss has a crush! All the boys in this town are idiots or two timers. Plus I barley know the guy. But I'm about to…
