An unearthly light surrounded the couple as they stood close, face to face, perhaps for the last time, the darkness of space beyond the window eerily reflective of what might lay ahead.
But this is where Vala wanted to be, live or die, with her Daniel.
Daniel's quiet voice soothed her anxious mind, "I want you to know, even if you are going to forget, that I wasn't with you all these years because we were trapped on this god awful ship. I was with you because…."
"I know. And I want you to know that…."
"I know. I know."
Daniel pulled her into his embrace, comforted by her presence. If he died right now he would die a happy man. Feeling her tears begin to soak his shirt front, Daniel held her a little tighter, "It'll be ok," he kissed the top of her head wishing he could say more to alleviate her fear.
"No. No it won't. Because I won't remember that you love me. Things will go back to the way they were, before…before that day. I think I'd rather die knowing you love me."
Vala felt him smile against her hair, felt his quiet tears.
In this calm before the storm they held each other, each leaving their tears on the other.
Daniel cleared his throat, "But we'll have the chance to fall in love all over again."
The ship lurched and Vala let out a small sob, "I will not forget Daniel," she looked him square in the eye, determined, "I love you to muc….
The explosion that ripped through the ship, pulled them apart.
