Alright, so even though I love NaWen, this is my first ever just NaWen story. This is a one-shot.They are still five years apart (Wendy-13, Natsu-18). I got this idea from The Wumbologist. Seriously, I love her/his one-shots. They're sooo cute! Actually, I dedicate this one-shot to every single NaWen writer. You guys are awesome and this ship could use more love. Don't expect too much, I'm not a good writer!

Whenever Natsu was on the battle field, fighting with his life on the line it was never for the guild, Igneel, Happy, or Lucy.

It was for her.

It was for Wendy Marvell.

It was so he could see her beautiful smile each day and know that she would be ok the next. It was so he could look into her mesmerizing hazel eyes without seeing tears in them. It was so he could run his hands through her royal blue hair and be sure no else could do that.

Natsu wasn't as dumb as he seemed, he knew the world would judge them if he were to start courting her. Wendy was a little girl in their eyes, but to him she a mature young woman. She was smarter than many girls he knew. She was one of the strongest girls he knew. She was prettier than many girls he knew as well.

He hated how she was so self-conscious about her chest size or the way she looked, because to him she was the definition of perfect. Her small frame was perfect to sqeeze against his chest. To be honest, he didn't like her wearing mini-skirts, but he chooses not to say anything. And, he would never tell her this but: he didn't want her to get curves. Wendy getting curves meant other unwanted eyes would stare at her. He didn't want her to be in that perverted magazine, Sorcerer Weekly. He didn't want perverted men staring at her the way they looked at Lucy or Mira.

The first time he laid eyes on her, he knew he had some kind of feelings for her. At the time of their meeting, he thought he had feelings for a celestial mage. He had planned on confessing to Lucy, but he wasn't sure if that's what he wanted after getting to know the sky maiden. Natsu came to the conclusion that he thought Lucy was attractive on the outside, but nothing crossed his mind as appealing when it came to her personality. Sure, Lucy was nice, but Wendy oozed kindness. Lucy was attractive but Wendy outshined her by far with her beauty. When he thought about it, it was her shy and clumsy demeanor that caught his eye.

After Natsu got to know the blue haired girl more, he saw how broken she was. After being left by so many people you care about, it was only natural. He knew she would be hurting, but he didn't think it would hurt him. He vowed to protect and fight for her, even when his life was on the line. Honestly, she would be worth dieing for. He start hanging out with her more and started to know everything about her.

He could read her like a book and he loved that. Everytime someone asked her a question, he would always know what her answer would be.

She was his mate, afterall. Though, they hadn't mated nor had he marked her as his yet. Heck, they weren't even dating! Even, so, he knew there was something different about her; he could tell from her scent alone. So, his curiosity getting the better of him, Natsu went into study mode and got some books from the guild library. He soon found out she was his mate and eveything started to make sense in his mind.

It was her that made him smile.

It was her that pushed him to be the man he is right now.

It was her that made his mind go blank and his heart cloud with emotion.

One day, he wished to say these things to her and be able to say the three words that could change anyone's life.
