I Am The Beast

The Beast is a rising superhero in America, and after Light studies abroad in The Big Apple during high school he comes back to Japan idolizing the vigilante. From this new superhero he gains his ideals and vows to change the world. When he finds the Death Note he sends both him and The Beast into a battle against L, the detective who has vowed to take down the vigilantes.

"I am The Beast."

The man quivered and wet his pants, staring a monster full in the face. This would be his death. He squeezed his eyes shut as the monster roared and lunged forward, but death didn't seek him out. When his eyes were open he found himself tied to his subordinates, his cell phone open with 911 splayed across the screen. Just out of reach. He shut his eyes and put his head down. This was the end. He was going to prison for life.

"…Anthony Johns, murderer of twelve and leader of a mafia, was found tied outside his hideout. When questioned, he said that it was a monster that captured him. Supposedly the monster called itself 'The Beast'." The News Reporter rambled on to other news. But the story was not lost on the twenty year-old that watched the television, the twenty year-old that practically thirsted for justice. To him this was the most interesting thing he had heard in a long time.

The Beast. It wasn't the first time he had heard the name. Popping up all over the news, The Beast was quickly gaining status as a vigilante, purging the world of crimes one organization by one organization. But no one had actually been able to visually document it. No one truly knew what it looked like.

The Beast was both a mystery and an inspiration, telling the twenty year-old that there were others in this world besides him and the police who wanted justice and had the ability to provide it to the world. The Beast. It would be a valuable partner.

Supposedly the monster called itself 'The Beast'." A sixteen year-old Japanese student perked up at the name. This was his first week in America, but already he had heard the name enough to know that The Beast was important to both America and the world. The Beast was a symbol. A symbol of hope for the common people, something that the police alone couldn't provide.

Light Yagami idolized this vigilante. If he had the power, he would do the same. He would bring the same to the world that The Beast had brought, he would fight in the name of justice and purge the world of evil. Maybe even one he would know The Beast personally.
